Re: Dave Perry

Yes I did think it was the same person that created Earthworm Jim for a while !

He used to be on the Games Master TV show as a guest/pundit. Believe he was a competition player back in the day - dont know much more than that though unfortunately!

Re: Dave Perry

That Games Master episode was very entertaining - I've never really known if Dave was genuinely angry or just playing to the cameras. What was even more amusing was how seriously the whole thing was taken, and that it applied to Mario slowly sliding at 1mph on his bum and then falling off the edge -...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Astral Chain, really enjoying this so far, top stuff from Platinum Games and Nintendo. I've just got to this game, only a few hours in but have to say am really enjoying it! Wonderfully stylist, Platinum Games definitely seem to have some really talented artists working for them. Music is really go...

Re: Ebay is flooded with repros. Can anything be done?

One thing I didn't realise was how long repros have been around for. I'd bought a copy of Tactics Ogre for the GBA about 15 years ago. Boxed, small manual with it - was a HK version I think or similar and probably paid about £20 for it. Played the game through at the time, all absolutely fine, and r...

Re: Mega SG

Guys - thanks so much ! Really appreciative for the detailed replies. Has given me a lot to think about. Hopefully get to a retro store over the next few weeks (brilliant how these are starting to pop up now!) and will think about where to go from there. One thing that's for sure is that if I go for...

Yep I thought Shadows of the Empire wasn't bad - have to remember it was a launch title as well for the N64 so probably the go-to game if you wanted something beyond Mario 64.

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

Hmm.. probably Rise of the Robots on the MD, after all of the screenshots and talk of the graphics, and then when you actually played the game for the first time! I really don't think DNF is that bad, and for the one to two quid or less you can get it for nowadays, it has its moments. Bit frustratin...

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

New Nintendo Direct presentation tomorrow night, apparently it's a fairly long one. Hopefully they announce some new stuff for next year. Just been playing through Hollow Knight - absolutely fantastic game, really moody style, and bloody difficult (brought back some old 16-bit era controller-throwi...

Re: Mega SG

JamesC and Shiffy - thanks so much for the detailed responses, that's really useful to know! It seems I now have a really difficult choice to make! :D I have a fair collection of carts so ideally wanted some way to use them. That being said, the forthcoming Mini MD does look appealing (if for nothin...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

After beating Revenge I went straight to ebay and look up 3, the price it goes for is crazy so not sure I will end up getting that one. Shadow dancer is on the watch list though so will hopefully pick that up soon. Ranger X looks interesting so I'll add that to the list too Believe Shinobi 3 is on ...

So.. after spending an hour trying to clear the first level on Ghouls'n'Ghosts, realise I'm not as good at computer games as I used to be! :D

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Would have picked up Doom but re-discovered my GBA copy the other week so have played it through again :) (Still amazed how that little console could play games like that, and looks brilliant on the SP version!) Just been playing through Hollow Knight - absolutely fantastic game, really moody style,...

Re: Mega SG

Sorry to dig up an old thread, does anyone have one of these and would like to share their thoughts?

The $189 is a bit of a misnomer - they add $50 for shipping (for the EU at least), which is ridiculous and knocks the price up to a whopping £200 with the current rubbish £/$ exchange rate.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Ah OK thanks - am thinking of getting on the Switch (but possibly waiting until they have patched some of the performance problems).
