Re: Help please - Final Fantasy

If you get a Nintendo DS (The original or the DS Lite) then you can play all the numbered Final Fantasy games up to 6 on the system. 3 is a DS game (and was the first time it had been released outside of Japan) - and all the others were released on the GBA - which can be played on slot 2 of the DS. ...

Re: Am I missing something?

I would like to add that a lot of third party controllers don't recognise the Transfer Pak properly. Make sure that you have the GBC version of Mario Tennis in the Transfer Pak as well.

Re: Gamecube.Still possible to use online?

If you've got the Broadband Adapter then you can play both Phantasy Star Online games quite happily with it - and play LAN games of Mario Kart Double Dash and 1080 Avalanche. If it's the Modem adapter, then you may need to get dialup settings from your ISP to be able to use it - and that will only w...

Re: Emulating Tetris Gameboy version on the Amstrad CPC 6128

I used to think back in my teenage years that the Gameboy and CPC should be able to play similar games as they both used the same processor - and now someone's managed it...

Re: FAVOURITE FOOTBALL MANAGEMENT SIMULATION?

I've never really played any football management sims - unless you count toying around with "Endzone" on the Amstrad CPC, which was an American Football management game and didn't have a massive selection of players or teams to play with (I will admit to modifying the ingame memory to give myself a ...

Re: Which Retro Game would you like to see remade?

I'd love to see the first 3 Elite games re-released for modern consoles - but it'll never happen.

Re: Super Mario 35th Anniversary

The most limited release they did (which I thankfully have) would have been Zelda 4-Swords Anniversary Edition for the Zelda series 25th anniversary - it was only available for a couple of months on the DSi and has never been available since to my knowledge The downside is nobody else I know ever go...

Re: High Score show - Netflix

Surely anything that reignites interest in classic games for people is a good thing - there may be enough information in the program for people to do their own homework.

Re: High Score show - Netflix

I did say that it's very much got a US focus - and seems to be a different take on the usual stuff - which is why I mentioned it.

High Score show - Netflix

I just spotted this on my netflix today and it looks like a pretty interesting take on videogame history. The first one (which I'm still watching and haven't finished yet) it focuses on the perspectives of the winner of the first US national Videogames championship, the creator of Pac Man and the gu...

Re: The XBOX ONE / PS4 discussion thread

Some bad news - Microsoft are doing away with the year-long subscriptions for Gold - they've already vanished from the online store - and the current "remaining" Gold subscriptions will cost about £100 - almost the same as Game Pass...

Re: What's the most iconic retro game that's actually rubbish?

I'm going to annoy everyone to hell and say that "Robocop" is completely rubbish. Only 5 levels, but the difficulty level was so high that it was a challenge to even get through the first level for many people - oh, and if you died at all? Right back to the start of the level...

Re: Need help identifying an old computer

Now, this is a complete random thought, but if Tasco were behind optical devices, might it be possible that they licenced out the Vic 20 design for use in hospitals and opticians as an early way of keeping track of patient records...? It would certainly explain why there's no information on it online.

Re: Need help identifying an old computer

The first thought might be that you're mis-remembering it and thinking of the TRS-80 (also known as a Tandy 2000), but a quick websearch shows it looks nothing like the Vic 20.

It may well have been a clone machine - or a re-branded Vic-20 for a foreign market.
