CBM64 or C64?

I've been playing the Commodore 64 since 1983 and I always remember the old bread bin as the CBM64. This was the moniker used by the gaming industry and Commodore themselves ( C ommodore B usiness M achines). So how come no one (but myself) uses this term any more? I never see it used in any forums....

Re: Yie Ar Kung Fu

Played this to death on the CBM64 back in the day. I admit to being slightly embarrassed going into WH Smiths and asking for it by name - the assistant laughed at me as he never heard of it. I can play it now and get as far as the final boss where you play the opponent that looks like Oolong (yourse...

Re: Your Favourite "Star Wars" game

3D Starstrike on the ZX Spectrum. OK, so it's not an official Star Wars game but in 1984 this was the closest way to playing the original Star Wars game in your own home. This game is effectively a direct port of the game. Even when Domark picked up the license later and converted it to other 8/16-b...

Re: Konami is it over?

Hideo Kojima is a genius. He's responsible for one of my favourite games I've played on any platform - Boktai. This series of games as well as so many others; Gradius, Juno First, Metal Gear Solid, Winning Eleven (PES) are the reason that Konami are my favourite developer. Hope they continue to crea...

Computing Britain + Micro Live on iPlayer

The full series of programs are available in the BBC Radio iPlayer called Computing Britain. Enjoyed listening to them, including the ones on gaming. Also available is Micro Live from '86 and The Computer Programme. Essential listening for everyone here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06bq6j1/epis...

Re: MAME OS X Help

Hey. You may need to run a more up to date build of MAME. Are you running SDLMAME? You can download the latest version here; http://sdlmame.lngn.net but you'll need a front-end app to configure it (MacMameInfoX for instance). I am running version 0.152 (64bit) myself and that takes most Roms I can c...

Re: Best ever 8 bit (micro) arcade conversion

For me it would be Green Beret and Yie Ar Kung Fu, both by Konami and released for the CBM 64 by Imagine. With the ability to now play both couresy of MAME, I still prefer the 8 bit versions to the arcade original. I love the SID chip music/sounds as well.

Konami all the way. I hate Capcom games - the gameplay always seems unfair. As if they don't actually want me to play this game.

There was a stall in the first show selling bead art key rings. I bought some PACMAN ones for presents. Good luck with your stand.

Re: RetroCollect VIDEO GAME MARKET 2

Hey. Nice to see this come 'round again, I went to the last one in March. It felt like a victim of its own success as it was pretty crowded last time - so its great to see a bigger venue!
Thanks, and good luck with the event and to all that attend. :)
