Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 184

I cancelled my sub when I moved house a while back but hate the 'subscriber' covers. The only advantage to them that I can see is a potential increase in re-sale value on eBay. The retail cover this month is vastly superior and I would be very annoyed if I had received that awful yellow version thro...

Re: Return of the Tentacle

It's not made clear from the link but if you click the 'update' tab you can download the game. It's a Gig but seriously worth it!

Re: Return of the Tentacle

I've played some more, Sam and Max make an appearance and Max is hilarious! It's only the prologue so not sure how long the game is but for a free game it's superb :D

Return of the Tentacle

I've just discovered this fan-made sequel to Day of the Tentacle that's apparently been 10 years in the making. I've only played for 15 minutes so far but first impressions are excellent. In some respects it's actually better than the 2016 original remaster!

Re: games where the original was best

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the greatest arcade game of all time yet, that being Mr Do!

The three sequels were all very good games but couldn't match the playability and addictiveness of the original.

Re: what is your biggest disappointment in gaming

Mine has got to be no DLC for GTA V, despite them saying there was going to be future adventures for Michael, Franklin and Trevor. I bought the PC version, having already bought the PS3 and PS4 versions of this game, simply because I was confident of new missions etc. GTA 4 had two DLC packages so n...

Re: Retro Gamer 167

Strange ad on the back, looks like it was created by a 6 year old - can't be cheap having a full page advert on the back cover and it was there last month also (not quite so crappy last month though) It's THAT bad, I honestly didn't even see it as an Ad for a game! But now you've mentioned it and I...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 165

Have briefly thumbed through the magazine and can't find any coverage of the game named on the cover, 'Uridum 2'... ;) You must have thumbed through VERY briefly! It starts on page 48. Yes, coverage for Urid i um starts on page 48. However, my cover promises 'Uridum'... Lol, sorry I missed that! Th...

Re: Your go-to 8-bit game

I rarely play 8-bit games these days but the ones that I still enjoy are 'Boulderdash' and 'Frankie goes to Hollywood' on the C64, and 'Jet Pac' on the Spectrum.

One game that made me laugh out loud was Conker's Bad Fur Day, particularly when the Great Mighty Poo starts to sing!

Re: Amusing Game Glitches

I think it was either Amiga or Atari ST (or both) Outrun, where the driver and passenger swap sides when you turn corners. Another glitch is in Double Dragon on the C64, where the you can see through the main sprites as they haven't been joined properly. These two games were the two I wanted to pla...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 153

Not had much time to read any of the mag yet but the Blagger article was ACE! :D It was an interesting article but I'm confused why Tony said the game was partly BASIC. It's definitely 100% machine code (I've checked the code in VICE emulator). Perhaps he just used BASIC to design the levels and th...

GTA V. Running down the pier holding a rocket launcher and seeing all the NPC's scream and scatter does it for me, but I'm just a sadist!

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 142

just noticed the scores in the review section ...out of ten... . One of the things I loved was the similarity to Crash Zzap etc...scoring out of 100 gives a much better idea... Yes I know its linked to what seems like the most pointless app in the world... Just saying i dont like it. I agre...
