You have nothing of relevance to add then?
Ok Zelda isn't really an RPG because it lacks stats so an adventure game. JRPGs aren't generaly roleplaying games though as you don't take on the role of a character, it's like calling a game that involves no shooting a shooter.

Re: Overrated Games?
In Zelda you are actually meant to be taking the role of Link so that is in effect a type of RPG, albeit not of the turn based variety. Lara Croft already has her own personalty and agenda separately defined from your own so that doesn't make Tomb Raider an RPG, you're just there to guide Lara throu...

So in Pong you take the role of the paddle? No you just control the paddle, likewise in Sonic the Hedgehog you just control Sonic, you don't take on the role of Sonic.

But you're not really assuming the role of Lara Croft or Solid Snake you're just controlling their physical actions.hydr0x wrote:So Tomb Raider is a RPG? Monkey Island? Zork? Metal Gear Solid? ...Sigma wrote:But Battlezone was an FPS and any game where you assume a role is an RPG.

Re: What are you currently playing?
Tekken 5 may not have been as good as Tekken 2 and 3 relative to it's date of release but it offers everything the previous games offered and more, that's the thing with fighting games they just tend to build on whatever came before. It's not easy to make an inferior sequel especially when it's on n...

Re: Has advanced graphics in games enhanced the overall gameplay
In the case of a game like Outrun it's not just the graphics that have improved, you have a whole new 3D engine there so the actual physics of the game itself have improved not just how it looks. Thing is graphical improvement tends to go hand in hand with overall technological improvement so it's h...

Can't say I've played that many Neo Geo games but my favourites would be the Metal Slug series, King of the Fighter series, Baseball Stars 2, Baseball 2020 and Windjammers.

I'm in serious retro gaming mode atm so I'm playing Centipede, Asteroids and Ms Pacman on the Atari 7800, playing for highscores. I'm also playing Wolfenstein 3D on XBLA as I've only just downloaded that today.

Re: Overrated Games?
I always thought Zelda OTT was overatted. It may well have been a contender for the best game of of 1998 but the best game of all time ever? It was an excellent 3D reinvention of the series and was easily in the top 5 N64 games but it isn't even the best game in the Zelda series let alone the best g...

Re: IGN's top 25 consoles of all time
Well the Xbox 360 and the PS2 had a better overall selection of games than their predecessors so I'm assuming they're factoring this into the equation, ok so the PS1 may have had a slight edge when it came to RPGs and games made by Squaresoft.
