Re: Green Beret (MSX version)

Konami U.K. (Europe) dealt with the msx version. They also developed a few conversions like Nemesis for other systems. They developed and released that game. All other Konami msx games were developed by Konami Japan. Konami Japan decided Green Beret was not up to standard and stopped further develop...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 194

They did not need to map everything onto a single button for MSX Yie Ar Kung Fu. Standard MSX joysticks have two independent fire buttons. Someone could easily mod it to use the two buttons. Other Konami games like Gradius use two buttons with the select key as an alternative for one button sticks

Re: 30 Years! Atari ST from Evesham Micros.

My first ST was an STM from Silica Shop with an external single sided disk drive. It came with a few games; Cards, Megaroids and Typhoon a vertically scrolling shooter. The first games I bought for it were Road Runner which was ok and Colonial conquest cos it got 5/5 in ST Update magazine. I mainly ...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 177

where was the poll conducted i never saw that?

seems as if the results have been skewed a bit. No way objectively Amstrad CPC should be on the list. Even other 80s home computers like Apple 2, Atari, BBC Micro & MSX had way more original games. Not just inferior ports from other systems

Re: Retro Gamer 168

not sure about the best non japanese MSX games article. If Space Walk is one of the top 20 then there must be not much to choose from. Sorcery was good on MSX. Written for the machine. Maybe you have already done an article on that as it is an Amstrad game Blagger was good Manic Miner/JSW were conve...

Re: Upgrade path for home computers

MSX 1984 £299 - I had a Sony MSX1. I wanted an Amstrad but my parents thought Amstrad stuff was junk. The Sony was a really nice computer that i had some good cartridge games for. Cassette games very mainly Spectrum ports which was poor but at least there were a few games to play. Magazines were cra...

Re: EU in or out? Today's THE day

Gisela Stuart would make a fantastic leader for the Labour party. Came across as calm and sensible in the debates whilst others were mud slinging. Ticked all the right boxes for the leave campaign - a woman, foreign and not a Conservative. Stuck to her convictions whilst Corbyn abandoned his. I am s...

Re: NEW - EU in or out? June 23rd (with POLL)

Even if we vote remain UkIP will be the real winner of this referendum in the same way Scotland voting to stay part of the UK helped the SNP. UKIP is the only party that represents the views of the many millions who will vote to leave. A leave vote would probably kill ukip as it would lose its reaso...

Re: NEW - EU in or out? June 23rd (with POLL)

Remind us what those long-term benefits are again. :) Here's a few: Increased self determination and independance, reduced international hegemony. The ability to taylor what were EU laws and regulations specifically to the British people. All the guidelines and examples of the EU, without the compu...

I have noticed an error in the Arkanoid article. The MSX version I have comes with the special dial controller (obviously the japanese cartridge version not the UK release)

Try the sequel Penguin Adventure on MSX it is a much better game. The first game Hideo Kojima worked on

Yume Penguin Monogatari (famicom) probably is about the same penguin

I buy it mainly because I am too lazy to cancel the direct debit. I really liked the magazine when it was first published

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 126

I really like the articles that compare all versions of a particular game like the Paperboy article did. Most people will only have ever played one version of a particular game. I remember the magazine used to have version comparisons for arcade games like outrun Ballblazer - released on 9 different...
