Re: Blade Runner 2049 Trailer

I was a bit skeptical and at the same time excited that finally a Bladerunner 2 movie is being made. On the whole the film looks like a typical Hollywood run and gun movie and no where near the art house movie that the original was. I was also disappointed that Vangelis didn't return to do the music...

Re: Rhyl Sun Center and other relics

Haven't been to Rhyl for years - not since the demise of the arcades. I remember visiting the place in the early 00's and one arcade had Kung Fu Master, Double Dragon, Punch Out, Paper Boy all in a row for 10p a go each. A few arcades down, Circus Voltaire and Doctor Who pinball tables and yet anoth...

OutRun inspired music.

OutRun was one of my favorite games back in the day (along with 1942, Rolling Thunder and Kung Fu Master) and the music from Sega's arcade classic really inspired me to write this track - Crusin' Coconut Beach. It was done using a few classic 80's synths (yes that is a DX 7 MK II you can hear) and a...

X arcade question

I was reading the discuss thread about joysticks and it got me thinking about my X Arcade Dual Stick that I bought in 2004. The one that plugs into the keyboard connection on your PC. I was wondering whether I could. a) Somehow plug it into my USB port. b) Can I somehow use it on my PS4 or Xbox 360?...

Re: Discuss - 169

I still have the Suzo Arcade stick for my Commodore 64/Amiga. That stick is built like a tank and has real arcade buttons which for the time, brought the 80's arcade experience a little closer to home when playing the likes of Bombjack, Commando and Green Beret.

Re: The answer to why we like retro games.

Same here, but thats because we were younger. lets be honest everything seems more special and exciting as a kid. I don't disagree with you about that as I feel the same. But I think its purely down to experiencing it as a kid, simple as that. Exactly the opinion I was suggesting - kids experience ...

The answer to why we like retro games.

I was watching a programme on the telly about teenagers brains and how they develop. You may have seen it, it was on BBC 1 a few months ago. It got me thinking about why we like retro gaming and I believe the programme has given me the answer. Because kids and teenagers experience situations more in...

Re: From The Forum issue 169 - 3D Games

Star Wars the 1983 arcade game. I had a feeling that the future of games could suddenly become very interesting if one day those wire framed vector graphics were filled with photo realistic textures.

Enjoyed this months mag guys! You were right about the Speccy version of Sly Spy being the holy grail. I ordered the Speccy version with my hard earned pocket money from the back of those shop ads placed in Sinclair User (or was it Crash!) and surprise surprise it never arrived. The shop never retur...

Re: Top 5 games you played this year

In no particular order. 1. Fallout 4 PS4 for the improved physics and graphics though Fallout 3 is the stand out game of the series. I mean in 3 your weapons need fixing so no relying on that same weapon all the time. 2. Broken Sword 5 PS4 nice to play a different style of game. 3. Skyrim Special Ed...

Re: We need more gaming documentaries.

I get what you're saying but "need" is a strong word. I don't think we need documentaries to tell us things the likes of us already know or could find out fairly easily through the internet, and I don't need mainstream validation to enjoy my hobby. I'd be more interested in documentaries by develop...

We need more gaming documentaries.

This topic is as the title says. On TV there is an abundance of documentaries on music and film (BBC 4 for example) yet hardly any (if any) on gaming and the history of gaming despite it now being an established multi million dollar industry. Could it be that gaming still isn't taken seriously and i...
