Re: What are you currently playing?

At the moment I am mainly playing Rogue Legacy on PS4, which is very addictive once you get the hang of the RPG/Rogue gameplay which is 3 minute game and then death / rebirth with inherited experience and levelling up. Retro pixel graphics and sound effects too, and suprisingly deep. Got bored with ...

BBC Micro Repair needed - anyone out there?

I need someone who can diagnose and repair the fault with my BBC micro, which is stuck on the startup BEEEEP. There are lots of guides online, and I know the PSU capacitors probably need to be replaced, but I don't have the skills to do this work and I'd like to find a vintage electronics specialist...

Re: Any Vectrex Collectors/Fans out there?

I picked up a Vectrex for £25 following an ebay collection, really jammy find. I'd bought a job lot of consoles and games from a guy having a clearout, and when I went to his house there was a dusty Vectrex in the corner. Made a cheeky offer and walked out with it. Works really well, great screen an...

Re: Whats your favourite Handheld console?

I've always loved the original Gameboy, and mainly because of Zelda: Links Awakening. A lot of crappy games, but some real gems if you look hard enough. Close second would be the DS for games in the Dragon Quest series, the re-release of Chrono Trigger, and the excellent Shin Megami Tensai: Devil Su...

Re: Is failure a failure

Failure is relative. One man's failure is another man's success. I propose any future questions regarding failure need some kind of benchmark? If we define the ultimate success in any endeavour as becomng the richest, most powerful and yet enlightened, wise, generous, charitable, funny and sexy pers...

Re: Top 10 Playstation 1 Games

It needs a top 20 at least! 10 is too limiting. Mine would be: 1. Final Fantasy VII 2. Alundra 3. Parasite Eve 2 4. Vagrant Story 5. Koudelka 6. Klonoa 7. Kings Field (shut it danny!) 8. Resident Evil 2 9. Soul Reaver 10. Street Fighter Alpha 3 Klonoa - may have to go back and revise my list, maybe...

Re: Top 10 Playstation 1 Games

To be honest there were so many great games released for the original Playstation that it's a genuine struggle to narrow them down to ten! Final Doom, Destruction Derby 2, Medievel, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Soul Blade, Broken Sword, Wipeout 2, Tomb Raider, Suikoden, Abe's Oddysee, PaRappa the Ra...

Top 10 Playstation 1 Games

I've searched the forum and can't find a thread on this topic so here goes. I recently wrote a blog on my top 10 games for the Playstation 1, and I wanted to see how it compares with other forum members. The one thing that compiling this list brought home to me was the number of classic franchises t...

Re: best jrpg of this generation

As a retro gamer, "this generation" must be PS2 and XBOX, so I pick Dragon Quest VIII. Brilliant story and graphics, fantastic voice acting, rousing soundtrack, lots of grinding, flexible battle system, what could be better?

Not played any on "next gen" but I do have a few backed up in my to do list

Re: The next XBox - Always online, no second-hand games...

Oh well, can't see me worrying too much I'll probably pick it up near the end of the console's life as usual. Well said that man, I have only recently bought an XBOX, cheap, with huge disk and no overheating issues, and really enjoying the great back catalogue for 5 quid a game. I don't play online...

Re: Skyrim...has it got boring?

Still not bored with Skyrim, I actually enjoy the wandering around and exploring rather than just following the quests. I have completed the main quest and defeated Alduin, but not even started on smithing and enchanting yet so have lots of opportunity to max out my character. I still get killed on ...

Re: What games do you want to be remade

I would love to see Gauntlet remade for a modern console. There was an attempt to remake on the Nintendo DS, but I don't think this was ever launched even though there were previews online.
