Re: Worst 8-bit arcade conversion ever?

Because of the technical restrictions of the time, I doubt you could really count this as an actual arcade conversion,
But as far as resembling the original games goes, Dragon's Lair on any 8 bit format is many miles away from the original.

Re: Who is excited about Street Fighter V?

Yeah, I am a huge fan of most games in the saga.
Although I am probably looking more forwards to Super Street Fighter V Ultimate, or whatever the final tweeked version will be.

Re: Best ever 8 bit (micro) arcade conversion

So many awesome ones, but I would probably go for the 128k version of Chase HQ on the Spectrum.
Blew me away at the time, still does, plays beautifully, looks amazing, incredible soundtrack.
As close to perfect as you can get (except for the colour thing obviously).

Re: Crazy playground arguments, who came out on top in the e

I was always Spectrum to the death. I used to love playing my friend's computers, I was happy to admit that the Commodore 64 had the best sound & the Amstrad CPC464 had the best colours. But the Speccy always had the best detail. Yeah, it was either generally monochrome or crazy clash, but the detai...

Re: Your gaming/collecting goals for 2015

Top of the list is another arcade cabinet, with a screen turned sideways for vertical games. Next up will probably be a Wii-U, not retro I know, but lots of old school related games. I'm also after a FM Towns Marty, a (working) 3DO (mine doesn't), a CD drive for my Jaguar, lots of replacement contro...

Re: Worst Sound from a Console or Computer?

As already stated, Manic Miner's title screen "music" is hard to beat. But the music in Speccy Blockbusters is either terrible or amazing, depending on how you look at it. (Well, hear it really). Fun game though, bit like a lo-fi precursor to Typing Of The Dead, If you replace the zombies with Bob H...

Re: Buying a game again if you have the Rom

Would absolutely buy the original game whenever possible.
It always comes down to the fact that as awesome as emulation is, nothing beats playing with a proper controller on the original machine.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Right now I can't stop playing the awesome Pinball Arcade. So many awesome tables, plus more to come. I've been spending my time mainly on Twilight Zone & Attack From Mars. My girlfriend loves Gorgar & Pinbot, good taste that girl. Plenty of beat em ups on the 360, P4AU & Ultimate MvC3 in particular...

Re: Help me decide on a retro console

Personally, if I were in your shoes David I would probably go for the Megadrive, so many amazing titles that can be picked up for decent prices, lots of imports work fine on a UK machine too, plus the Mega-CD & 32X addons that both have some awesome games. (Although i'm sure some will disagree with ...
