Re: Fantasy Football 2015-2016

I've sacked myself. It's been a Chelsea kind of season for Team Alfie.

Re: PS1 games that are still half decent today

Yes, ironically, it's usually the games that were marked down by critics for looking too 16-bit at the time (of which Symphony of the Night was not immune) that look best today.

Re: Fantasy Football 2014-2015

Clearly the two-point gap that separates first and second makes for a very boring end to the season and the battle for a distant third is where it's really at.

Re: Classic console launches

N64 was a classic for Mario 64 and being the last console (IIRC) to have that amazing new Nintendo hardware smell when you opened the box for the first time. Less classic for being impossible to get a week after launch and yet somehow still managing to have one of the earliest and biggest price cuts...

Re: Top N64 games vote

1. SUPER MARIO 64 Predictable but deserving. Playing it for the first time at launch provided one of gaming's all time revolutionary moments. Arguably the most revolutionary of all. Console launches have never managed to feel quite as special ever since. 2. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: MAJORA'S MASK The bes...

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

The reviews are as cruel for Wii U as they are for Sega. Wii U gets a great game, Sonic gets a great game, and the critics pan it.

I just hope they don't discourage Sonic Team because for me this is as good as Sonic gets, 2D or 3D.

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

I'm on the 4th world and loving it. Seriously. My heart goes out to the developers. We've all played 4/10-worthy Sonic games and there's no way this one deserves that kind of score. It fixes a lot of the complaints I've had with 3D Sonic over the years. It controls well. I like the dash on the ZR bu...

Expected to be bottom of the league this week. Ended up with the top score.

Onwards and upwards.

Re: The Wii Collecting Thread!

Reprint OOP games, sell them 2nd hand so you dont look quite as scummy for selling them at twice the RRP? There might even be some method to Gamestop's madness - as long as the Internet doesn't find out what they're up to... Oh... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-08-14-gamestop-to-restock-out-...

Re: E3 guff

Credit where it's due. Most companies would keep quiet about that price for as long as possible.

Sony was already in line to be the people's choice. £400 will be an easy launch victory for PS4. £350-375 and Microsoft's console might be DOA.

Re: Ps1- future classic?

I too sold my original SNES to fund a PlayStation. A necessity at the time, an eternal regret ever since. I do have many fond memories of the PS1. I even liked the official magazine which was quite unlike anything that came before it. The (European) cases are unique so mint games have a certain desi...

So two decades of console design have passed and we have something that's a bigger, uglier CD-i.
