Re: MAME - what do you use?
I find android mame less of a struggle than pc mame, I spend more time setting up than playing. I've not used PC mame for years for this reason. The Windows one (MameUI I believe it was called) was great but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. For PC I mainly use Retroarch now, most games I play work...

Re: games where the original was best
Totally agree with Renegade (although I do still have plenty of love for Target Renegade) and Tenchu.
Xenon is the one that always come to mind for me, loved the original but never really rated the sequel.

Couldn't give an answer for RPG as I've never really played them but who no category for fighting game? 1. Platformer - Super Meat Boy 2. Shoot 'em up - R-Type 3. Adventure - The Secret of Monkey Island 4. Driving game - Metropolis Street Racer (or any of the PGR games as a substitute) 5. RPG - ? 6....

Re: Gods Remastered.
As with most of the Bitmap Brothers games the original pixel art is fantastic. This looks horrific though, there are better looking free to play mobile games than this.
It does makes me wonder how these games would have looked if they had access to todays graphics technology back then...

Re: Best game in the world ever... by Hewson Consultants!
Uridium is the 1st game that pops into my head when I think of Hewson... As a Spectrum owner though I probably wasn't playing the best version. And it was just so hard. And I was crap at it... Technician Ted is my choice... Which is even harder. Much much harder. So hard you might even say its unfai...

Re: Yie Ar Kung Fu
I've always loved fighting games and back in the 8 bit days this was definitely one of my favourites on the Spectrum. I liked the variety of fighters with different attacks and I think it was pretty ahead of its time for that alone. As some have already commented, the gameplay definitely hasn't held...

Re: Future game ideas
Give me a GTA with a British setting, preferably not London. Madchester era would be good.
Give me an Outrun style arcade racer where I'm driving a Shelby Cobra 427.
Give me a Super Meat Boy Sequel and increase the difficulty x 10.

Re: Best run and gun game?
Why is Commando on this poll? Its weird when all the others follow the same basic format. I've always thought of it more as a vertical shmup than a run and gunner. Anyway, I opted for Green Bert, not necesarily because its best, but because its a favourite I've played more than most across several ...

Re: Favourite Movie Licensed games
Nothing from me that hasn't already been mentioned here. Goldeneye is probably the best example there is, Batman and Robocop were good and Star Wars has done better than most movie based games. What I'd like to see is the Despicable Me/Minions characters used in games. They'd be perfect for platform...

Re: Best "Kart" racer?
Another vote for Mario Kart here. All the Mario Kart games I've played have been great but the original just got it so right first time for me. Somebody mentioned earlier the 2 player mode didn't compromise anything at all and that just cant be said of many other racing games.

Re: Introducing "Shadow Gangs" an 80's arcade inspired ninja
My advice would be to stick to your guns and use whatever character design you see fit, the eighties were pretty camp anyway. If people want to play a super butch guy or a ninja they can play Crude Buster, Shadow Warriors or make their own game. 2 crude dudes looks manly enough, don't know about sh...

Re: Gaming 'Guilty Pleasures'
The ST and Amiga versions of The Blues Brothers. I believe most people regard these as average platformers at best but i think they're great. Also Rick Dangerous. It may be an unfairly difficult memory test with no regard for even half accurate collision detection or the basic principles of physics ...

Driving games, I don't think anybody has mentioned SkidMarks yet. I didn't play it much at the time but I liked it a lot.

Re: Games that were the peak of their genre
Platform games... Its quite a modern game so its possibly a controversial choice but for me Super Meat Boy has absolutely no equal. It might not do anything new but it just plays so right and the controls are absolutely perfect . If this game had never been made then Super Mario World would probably...
