Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200

Ha! I have a memory like a sieve! :) I only remembered Marty Goldberg's piece because it mentioned PLATO, which I've always thought was super-cool. Thanks for the compliment, though. :) And thanks for pitching your excellent Matt Smith article for 200, without which I wouldn't have been asked to wri...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200

Marty Goldberg wrote a piece called 'Before Videogames' back in 2012 that had four paragraphs and two captions on Spacewar, maybe RichL is remembering that - see link below: https://archive.org/stream/retro_gamer/RetroGamer_108#page/n31/mode/2up There's no interview with Steve Russell in it, mind. I...

Did you meet Steve Crow when you were working on the music for the C64 Marauder, and if so how did he get on with your accent?

How did you approch the task of adapting Jean-Michel Jarre's Captain Blood soundtrack for the humble Spectrum 128K?

How aware were you of the great reviews Bactron got in the UK at the time of its release, and were the reviews that it got in British magazines all that important to you at the time or was the response of the French gaming press to the game of far more concern?

Re: Questions for Stoo Cambridge

How much fun was Jon Hare to work with, and what stories can you tell us that won't land Andrew in court for libel? ;) Did you have a career break between 1995 and 2000, or did Road Rash II just have a very long development? It's probably neither, but I couldn't help but notice the gap in your resu...

Given that the Silver Surfer is one of Marvel's most powerful superheroes, what was the reasoning for him getting instantly killed by almost everything in the NES game - including the scenery!?! Was the irony of this design decision something that Marvel overlooked, and was it something that was con...

How much longer do you think Atari Inc. would have survived if it hadn't been sold to Warner Brothers, and would you have stayed with the firm if the buy-out and the subsequent fall of Atari hadn't happened? How big would you say Imagic could have been if not for a few crucial miscalculations, could...

Yeah, I've tried too. I contacted Roy Carter around this time last year and received the polite reply below: "Greg and I have been asked before to provide input for magazines such as your own. We have chatted about this at some length, and our view is that we would rather not accommodate these reque...

Re: New "How To" section - what should it cover?

I've always wanted to know how to carve clogs from a solid block of wood. Not meaning to derail the thread, but when I read the above I couldn't help thinking of this for some reason! Better suggest something for the "How To" section while I'm posting. Ok, game rooms are nice but a non-start...

Looking back, we did an Obscura Machina feature on the X68000 in issue 96, and followed up with a Minority Report for the system in issue 126. It doesn't look like we've done anything on most of the other machines, including the PC88 and PC98. Certainly something to consider for the future... Yeah,...
