Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

The whole Fortnite thing is a bit of a shame. I've got friends who have been gamers since the '80s and we've all played so many different types of games across so many systems. But for the most part their kids only care about Fortnite and FIFA. It's so dull. Not what gaming is about (in my opinion)....

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Ghost Recon Breakpoint - it's technically ropey, it's yet another Ubi open world game but it's actually a lot of fun. That said, I've been playing it in co-op most of the time and that generally improves everything. I recently finished Need For Speed Heat which is exactly what you'd expect it to be....

Re: Konami shoot 'em ups

I don't even know how making games too hard makes them profitable. I once pumped in about a fiver into Double Dragon and got through the whole game. I didn't know the elbow trick back then. Thing is, I enjoyed it and I got to see the whole game. Put me in front of Haunted Castle with a fiver and I'l...

Re: Konami shoot 'em ups

Great info, Shinobi. That definitely rings true that they made the changes at the expense of gameplay to get more money. I'll give the Japanese versions a go to see how they compare. Those suicide bullets are absolutely awful and if you get hit by one, you're basically doomed because of how hard the...

Konami shoot 'em ups

I've always thought pretty highly of Konami's arcade output but I just played through their recent PS4 shoot 'em up compilation and it would seem that it's all rubbish. You've got the following; Nemesis - starts off okay. Gets stupidly hard. The first boss thing (a couple of volcanoes) seems to be i...

Re: Samurais & Ninjas

There was a game called Samurai for the Speccy. It was a top down turn-based strategy game. A bit like Rebelstar but not as good, or as nice looking. But it was still pretty decent.

Ninjas were in it too as the ranged units you could hire.

Bongo by Jetsoft.

It doesn’t play great and it looks worse but I always enjoyed it.

Re: Your Favourite Five Spectrum Games

Rebelstar 2 is definitely top. After that the other four are;

Quazatron
Renegade
Megabucks
Myth

(Chaos and Green Bert both unlucky to miss out)

Re: What's Your Favorite Driving/Racing Game Ever?

Trackmania. The first one. Before the series became obsessed with visuals. It was a great mix of racer, puzzle game and construction kit. Gripshift. Has the puzzle element of Trackmania but also the best power-up racer ever. Way better than any Mario Kart. Outrun 2 Burnout Paradise. People cite 2 or...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

In terms of sequels; Renegade 3 Resident Evil 3 EDF: Insect Armageddon PES6 Tenchu 2 Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun Magnetron Skyrim Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Original games disappoint me all the time but I usually put that down to my own taste or reviewers who hype stuff up. Wartech: Senko no ...

Re: Favourite Resident Evil?

Of the original trilogy, 2 by a mile. I never enjoyed 1 (it was more fun to watch it being played) and 3 was trash. I enjoyed 2 enough to beat it a few times.

They all pale before the greatness of 4.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

Trying to get into Risk of Rain 2. I loved the first one, not feeling this one but I feel like it might be entirely down to the joycons. They are so unsuitable for 3PS/FPS games.

Re: Retrogaming Spotlight: Donkey Kong

I love it. It’s a brutal game but very rewarding. My high score isn’t going to bother the top players but I keep coming back to it.

It is one of two games I have installed on my Switch.

Loved it on the Dreamcast but tried the remaster and it has not aged well at all.
