Re: Thoughts on Super Frog

Can't wait for this!!! I played the game numerous times from start to finish...it has everything you could ever want from a platformer with my fave levels being haunted castle and Egyptian. I don't understand the major comparisons with sonic. Super frog had a couple of fast sections (when you picked...

Re: New graphics card needed

Firmly, windows 7 is pretty mature now and the 64 bit version handles 32 bit program's great. I've never had a 32 bit program not work on my system (win 7 enterprise 64 bit, i5 2500k, 16 gig ram, 2 tb storage, bluray writer, 2 x GeForce gtx 560ti sli etc...yawn...). Apparently there are a few progra...

Re: ZX Spectrum Gamer issue 2 is out

Alas - while I hoped upon hope of the possibility of seeing Ted Rogers in a dress, it was not to be  It's early days, don't lose hope yet. Now you've gone a put my hopes up again...centre page spread and my life will be complete. Actually, thinking about it, Ted Rogers, Tony Hart and cake in t...

Re: ZX Spectrum Gamer issue 2 is out

You had me with 'More exciting than Ted Rogers in a dress'. Alas - while I hoped upon hope of the possibility of seeing Ted Rogers in a dress, it was not to be  Still, my search for said Mr Rogers in a bustle dress, a ruffle sleeved dress or even (pause for breath) a black, hourglass Lilly Flui...

Re: Book...

Thanks for the headsup Antiriad. Just ordered it on Amazon but it seems the book is skewed towards the American side of things whereas my plan is to keep it thoroughly British simply because it's what I know. Like I say though, I'll probably never finish it - give it a few weeks and I'll have moved ...

Re: Best Game Opening Sequences

Recently I was given a copy of Homefront which surprised me in two ways. 1) It's actually not that bad a game. 2) The intro really touched me (emotionally) as there is a scene where a family are on the street and what appears to be the parents are shot in front of the child. It's the fact it was out...

Book...

I've started writing a book (totally not for sale but the plan is to make it available for free download) and as such purely a personal labour of love about my experiences with computers and computing devices. I doubt I'll ever finish it though...! I'm sure many people had the similar experiences to...

Re: James Pond: Underwater Agent or Robocod?

I think Robocod really showed what the A500 was capable of and the Amiga version was certainly the best looking, smoothest and most colourful version out there.

Still not a patch on Superfrog though - best platformer ever!!!!!

Re: my eyes ! ( n64 )

The thing is, the older CRT TV's use a completely different display system and one of CRT's 'deficiences' was that they 'suffered' from something akin to persistence of vision. The phosphor used to create the image emitted light slightly longer than an LCD (for example) takes to switch state and the...

Re: Deluxe Paint vs Personal Paint

Dpaint all the way...except I did use Ppaint for both it's image effects and the fact it could save using different datatypes rather than just .iff The one feature I still miss from dpaint is being able to pick up a bit a bit of the screen as a brush and just paint everywhere with it. No faffing abo...

Re: Issue 90 feedback thread

BEST COVER EVER!!! Honestly. Not only that - I took the mag into work and the cover attracted the attention of a few collegues and of course, we got talking about ye olde games and stuff. They didn't have a clue there was such a magazine available and are now going to buy / subscribe. So, lets start...

Re: Favourite gaming magazines

Amstrad Action, Amiga Format, Amiga Power, CU Amiga, Retro gamer (of course) It's depressing walking into WH Smiths now...there used to be so many mags to choose taking up a whole wall and now it's reduced to just a couple of small shelves. There was nothing like the buzz of walking in there and see...

Re: ever bought a console for 1 game ?

I bought a wii just to play Super Paper Mario. Never been so disappointed with a game in my life...loved the first two, hated this third offering. As for the wii. Well, I had the usual phase of playing wii sports...then it gathered dust until I got house of the dead...then gathered more dust until S...
