Re: Retro Gamer 216
Another great issue, loved the Manic Miner stuff (but then I'd read anything about that and JSW). The Last Ninja stuff was really interesting and I'm totally unaware of the term "Metroidvania" so I'm intrigued to read that. Fantastic interview as well.

Retro Gamer 215 : Neo Geo
Mine has turned up today, wasn't expecting it this soon. Fair play to the team for getting it out before Xmas (for Subs at least).

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 214 - Turrican
Interesting reading Paul Rose's column this issue. Have to say i completely agree with everything he said. Gaming / computing lost something for me when it gained mass appeal (playstation era for me). Before then it felt like I was a member of an exclusive club, i was involved in something almost s...

Re: Subscriptions magazine cover options
DuckDuckGo? You could have searched the forum: https://forum.retrogamer.net/search.php?keywords=retro+gamer+index Yes re: DuckDuckGo. I'm on a work laptop so have to use Tor Browser to look at this forum (it's blocked otherwise because it's about "games") and it just happens to use that search engi...

Re: Subscriptions magazine cover options
The reason? When I'm looking for an old aricle I look on the cover first to see if it's listed on there. The subscriber cover has no text at all so trying to find the right mag with the right article in the future will be nigh on impossible. 30 seconds on DuckDuckGo and I found this, easier to sear...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 214 - Turrican
Just read the Turrican article, really interesting. Makes me want to play it again. Tempted to dig my Amiga A600 out and use that.

Re: Subscriptions magazine cover options
I'll just add that I work at a really small publisher (about 10 full-time employees including management) with two monthly magazines, both very certainly selling in _much_ smaller numbers than Retro Gamer. We also introduced subscriber covers a few years ago, but somehow we do manage to offer our s...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 214 - Turrican
Some great articles in this issue, mine came on Monday.
I'm not a fan of the paper envelope either although I've been getting the car magazine Evo like this for over a year and never had any problems with damp or ripped issues personally.

I've just read the Reg Stevens interview, wow what a story, he was unassuming about it all. Great job tracking him down.

Wow, that's some context! So what's better about the non-sub one then?greenberet79 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 9:52 amNah, I said what I wanted to say. But some context - the non-subscriber version is really good.

Re: When did the paper quality of the magazine get so terrible?
There's no doubt that different magazines use differing paper, I get 3 different mags a month (RetroGamer, EVO and Edge) and RG is probably the least weighty in that regards, but it's never been a problem for me and I've not noticed a change in recent times. Certainly I never have an issue with page...
