Re: Bedrooms to Billionaires. Who is excited?

Totally pumped for this film. Just heard a great interview by the film maker on the Retro Gaming Roundup podcast. You'll be pleased to hear that the film maker plugged your magazine a few times, too. Apparently—not that I'm surprised—y'all have been very supportive. Maybe the coolest thing I heard i...

Re: Best Hardware for Playing NES Games Today?

Think the problem with NES clones is for some reason, none of them can play Castlevania III. That's what I heard anyway, no one's cracked that one yet... Check out this video at about 2:15 into it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDLVsmo9x54 Castlevania III plays on the Retro Duo without a problem.

Best Hardware for Playing NES Games Today?

Hello, With the advent of some quality clone options, such as the Retro Duo, I'm interested in taking a critical look at the best ways to play NES games today . By today, I mean hardware that's reliable and hopefully supports modern televisions. I've had quite a bit of experience with American carts...

Re: Everybody loves Famicom Disk System Box Art...

Another classic from the Warper of Time! Is there anything you haven't covered yet? Warper of Time, LOL. The amusing compliments continue—I love it! Well, in terms of the consoles that my site focuses on—more than enough to keep me busy—that covers it. In terms of my video game art curiosity in gen...

Re: Everybody loves Famicom Disk System Box Art...

Awesome article as always, Vinny! Kinda sad to see the slow degradation of artwork from left to right :( Apart from Metroid which (the small box version) seems to stand out as the better one :) At least it's not as bad as the PC Engine/Turbografx JAP > US transitions *shudder* Thanks for the props....

Re: Everybody loves Famicom Disk System Box Art...

Kudos to you sir. A very interesting article, especially when the art used was similar like Zanac. The differences in box art was something that always attracted me to importing, though as you fairly point out, JP=better isn't *always* the case. Would love to see more of these, either comparisons o...

Everybody loves Famicom Disk System Box Art...

...or not. Anyway, I just posted a new box art comparison feature, and I thought y'all might enjoy it. Not sure how many of you even care about the Famicom Disk System, but as an American gamer it gave me hope, realizing that not all U.S. boxes are strictly worse than the Japanese originals. http://...

Re: Top 10 8-bit / 16-bit Console Strategy Games

I can see where you're coming from with the Gain Ground inclusion, but - as much as I love it - I'm not sure if I'd feature it in a strategy list. I'd probably swap it out for Rampart. Syndicate is definitely missing as well - probably put that in for Jungle Strike (which, again, is debatable in st...

Re: another PC Engine topic

Great topic. I've been struggling to track down the details behind the release of the TurboGrafx-16 outside of Japan and the US. So far, all I've come up with is that there was some sort of test market release in Europe. Supposedly, though, it was never officially released outside of Japan and the ...

Re: Box Art

Wow, really tough to pick a favorite, but this is one that jumps to mind (known as Guardian Legend on the NES): http://timewarpgamer.com/images/nes/guardian_legend/guardian_legend_box_jp.jpg For those interested in box art in general (warning: shameless self-promoting plug to follow), I've done a nu...

Fear not, it's also on my list to play. Takes a while to give each of these strategy games a proper play.

Just remedied the SimCity and Harvest Moon oversights. You'll find them in the list now. Thanks for all the comments!
