Re: What's The Girliest Game You Own?

Britney Spears Dance Beat on the PS2, what's even worse is its rock hard. That would be mine too - it's also one of my favourites :P It's actually a very good rhythm game, and can get quite competitive when played with two good players versus. I've always wondered if the final Britney 'dance off' u...

Re: Minecraft

It now has an official release date for November, which is good to see. Also, just saw an article highlighting that the game has now made over £20 million pounds... 8)

Re: Who's getting a 3DS then?

Oh god, will you two stop bitching? I wandered around town today and actually got a Street Pass hit. I was pleasantly surprised, I hope more people start doing it Got my first two the other day as well, one of them with some Ridge Racer data on top - such a great addition to the system and it will ...

Re: Who's getting a 3DS then?

I noticed they had another article about 'making gamers feel sick' in the Metro paper this morning (the free London paper). Seemed to be a rehash of the bullcrap in the Sun. For what it's worth, I tend to get quite carsick and often have pretty bad headaches even when just travelling on the bus. But...

Re: The Civilization thread

I'm another fan of the Russians :) Civ V has been an interesting one for me, as although I like it and it's still at its core a Civ game it's the first one that I've just felt like I don't have the time for this...Played two 10 hour games of it, and just can't give it any more of my life! I also agr...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Finally picked up a Dreamcast (I know!), and got it with a scart lead as well so it's looking very nice. Playing through Rayman 2 at the moment and enjoying it - although I had forgotten about true 3D games without dual-sticks! Apart from that, mainly using it as an emulation machine at the moment t...

Re: Top 10 8-bit / 16-bit Console Strategy Games

Nice list and site in general. I really used to love General Chaos, when I was originally playing the MD it was my second most played game next to Zombies Ate My Neighbours! Great fun in multiplayer :) I would also agree that Jungle Strike and Gain Ground are definitely stretching the genre a bit...

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

Well that was a great way to kill an interesting conversation - thanks for your contribution... To go on another track then, what do people think will be the upcoming technological advancements that will make a difference to gaming in the next five or so years? Obviously 3D is going to be pushed wit...

Re: Marvel Vs Capcom 3 coming to 360

In regards to the expensive DLC controversy, is it likely that a new edition of the game will eventually be released with the extra characters ala Super Street Fighter IV?

Re: Who's getting a 3DS then?

Have finally made the decision to pick one up, although am still quite unimpressed by the £40 rrp for many games! Hopefully it will be the usual case of everything being discounted a bit... Now just considering which games to pick up at launch - currently thinking Pilotwings, Ridge Racer and Ghost R...

Re: Sega Saturn collecting thread

Thanks for letting me know, that would have been seriously annoying! As for the 50/60hz switch, I think I'll probably end up just buying a PAL Saturn as well as you can pick them up for less than £20 quite often and it saves me the stress of most likely bricking my mint NTSC-J one!

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

All I'm saying is that it dosn't make for the ideal coding structure, and this does have an imput on the finished product, however imperceptable or small that may (or may not) be. And what I was originally trying to get at is that the ideal coding structure is dependant upon the technology itself, ...

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

Heavy Rain (PS3) - 8-12 hours gametime Chrono Trigger (SNES) - 20-40 hours gametime Two very different games, granted. But what's the best game out of the two? Again, this is an issue of having predefined terms about what 'better' is before you even begin. Chrono Trigger is pretty much undeniably t...

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

But the software, that's another story. The days of commercial coders producing really tight, neat, and understandable code by shaving every bit in assembly to get their code to fit and squese the very best out of the hardware are long gone...This is why we get games that have superfuous code in th...

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

I'm sure this has already been said - sorry, too lazy to read 13 pages at the moment! - but people often forget that better technology does not just mean better graphics. It also brings things such as better physics engines, AI, environmental simulators, and anything else processor intensive. Not to...
