Re: My mate the new Retro Gamer

Hi chaps, thanks for the recommendations. He is very much into playing the games (doesn't care about boxes and so on, just that they work). Currently he is writing machine code for his BBC B. Like I said, he's a games coder so a bit mental. Will have a look at the Neogeo as well. To be honest, a qui...

My mate the new Retro Gamer

Afternoon all! Been a long time! So one of my oldest chums has got into the retro gaming habit and started a collection of games consoles. As with everything, he has gone a bit mental with it. He is an old BBC/Archie man but was exposed to basically everything (he is a games coder by trade). So far ...

Re: FOR SALE: Loads of things (games, mags etc)

Just a quicky, the chap selling the bits, if you want to contact him direct, is peter.connelly@gmail.com.
He is a trustworthy game developer (if that is not a contradiction in terms:) but if you would prefer to speak to me instead then that's fine too.

Re: FOR SALE: Loads of things (games, mags etc)

As requested the list. he has just sold his N64 games so I post what is left. I have asked him to hold back the CU's so Shinobi can have first refusal. Like I say, the chap is a games composer and you may well have heard a lot of his stuff, thus the music equipment bit. MUISC KIT JD990 Super JD Rack...

FOR SALE: Loads of things (games, mags etc)

Morning all, A friend of mine (a game dev of yore who some of you may have heard of) is having a good old clear out having just moved house. As a result, he is trying to find new homes for a lot of stuff including magazines (loads of Zzap's and CU's), original Amiga/PC/N64 games, and a bit of music ...

Re: ISSUE 82 - Official Feedback Thread

Cover was a great idea but the little windows popped open themselves when I was reading the mag, thus removing the should I/shouldn't I problem for me. Huzzah, I think. Some of the content was great! Like the 2D feature, some great comments and views into the future of gaming and the concept of 2D. ...

Re: Idea for magazine

It's an interesting question for me. If you had asked me a year ago what a retro games machine was I would have mentioned the Speccy and the Amiga with enthusiastic hand gestures and everything. Now, I am really not so sure. I mean, how many times can we say that the Spectrum was awesome? Or that th...

Re: From the Forum question for issue 80

Always had a soft spot for the old Amiga game "Supremacy". Great fun and you got to upgrade to that Dune style armour during the course of your quest to be the supreme ruler of the entire galaxy. What's not to like? If, however, Supremacy is ruled out due to some bizarre technicality, I will go for ...

Re: Official Feedback Thread - Issue 78

Never really got into the whole "Tomb Raider" thing, never played the original but I liked the cover a lot. Haven't read the article on Tomb Raider yet but when I have looked at the stuff that leaps out at me I will return t it as I so often do in the magazine. Loving this Unconverted feature, hope ...

Re: Hot Topic - Starfox Games

Has to be the original Starfox for me but then I am somewhat biased as some of you will know.

The SuperFX chip was clearly the work of super genius!:)

"We all have something to bring to this conversation and I think the thing you should bring is silence"

So many classic lines.

Loved Red Dwarf right up to Season 6. After that... not so much.

Re: Issue 67 Feedback

Quite apart from anything else, like it or not, Jops was a major player in games development (and probably still is for all I know). It's always interesting to hear his comments as it is the comments of other developers from the era. Mind you, I suspect it was a cheeky joke and nothing more:) Perhap...

Re: Issue 67 Feedback

This "Lets All Play" thing.... I'm afraid I am one of the chaps that doesn't really get on with it. But thats fair enough, hourses for courses and all that. However, I quite like the idea of getting a group of readers to play a game but I always kind of hoped it would be a more competitive thing. Th...

Re: Your ideal SID/C64 music feature in Retro Gamer

LOL, imagine that? "Restraining order served on entire internet community". Got to be a first:) As for the SID article, it's a great idea! I used to own a Speccy and then a c64, the main reason for the c64 was the music. Love to see some of the names we all remember revealing there secrets and a whe...
