Re: From The Forum issue 149 - Controversies
Crash Magazine's Issue 19 spoof of Sinclair User (Unclear User) meaning a recall, and removal of the pages. This followed Crash's Barbarian themed cover of issue 18 which was a bit saucy, and caused middle England to get a bit hot under the collar (and was slightly embarrassing to purchase in the lo...

High Score Musical
Of limited appeal perhaps, but I just let any interested RG forumites that I'm finally debuting my musical (High Score Musical) at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, and if you happen to be up there next week (2nd - 9th August) it's (1) free and (2) quite entertaining. I think. At the very least it's s...

Re: Lets play GLOBALTHERMO NUCLEAR WAR!
I loved (and still) love WarGames.
Films like War Games, Threads & When the wind blows massively shaped me (and I am sure others of the same age). I was a child of cold war fatalism! Hence the 'Protect and Survive' wallpaper I have on my computer desktop I suppose.

Re: FEZ - XBLA
For what it's worth Fez is probably my favourite release of the past 12 months. The platforming element is fun, with the 3D rotating making for a small challenge - but the real game opens up in the collection of the 32 'anti-cubes' (the ones that are not shown until you 'do' something). The 'puzzlin...

Re: Ready Player One
I can not see how a film could possibly do this book justice. Attaining the licenses for all the 80's films/games/music (including recreations of films) would surely render the book unfeasible - and without those half of the appeal is gone. You'd need a LOT of them, not just a handful of key ones to...

Re: Ready Player One
A ridiculous bump for this, I finished it yesterday ... Whilst the plot might not be the greatest (and the "Willy Wonka meets The Matrix" tag about sums it up) it is littered with 80's pop culture (particularly videogames). Highly recommended if you have a love of that decade. Every page had me smil...

Re: Best Xbox 360 Games (Retail & XBLA)
If I were advising a newcomer to XBOX, I'd recommend the following - pretty much without reservation. RETAIL Crackdown 2 (for brainless multiplayer stupidness. also: dirt cheap) Red Dead Redemption (grant theft gee gee) Batman Arkham Asylum (more focused than the sequel) Burnout Paradise (open world...

Re: High Score Musical - an 8-bit rom com
I'd like to say 'yes' but I just don't know yet. There will definitely be a (studio recorded) soundtrack album of the songs* from the show but not we're sure about whether we'll be able to videorecord it to a 'releasable' level.
* ahem, available from a wefund page, if you are interested.

High Score Musical - an 8-bit rom com
Hello all, High Score Musical is a project I'm currently working on, and we're planning to take it to Edinburgh this summer. It's a new (slightly silly) musical paying homage to the innocent days of arcade games, home computers, playground piracy and first love. We'll be using live musicians alongsi...

Re: Graphic Novels - Complete newbie needs recommendations
If you read (and liked) the previously recommended Maus ... which is truly stunning, then I'd recommend Barefoot Gen http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51HF18A8YQL._SS500_.jpg It's an autobiographical story of the Hiroshima bombing. Cheery stuff! Book 1 makes perfect sense on its own, so you coul...

Re: The Top 50 Gamecube Games
Point of order ... it's Kururin Squash (not Squad). And I personally thought it was probably worse than Kurukuru Kururin AND Kururin Paradise on the GBA. It's not top 50 in my book.

'Back 2 Skool'. Unlike most games I can't think of a game on *any* format that revisited this play mechanic/setting - let alone doing it better.

The amazing community of mods for Q1 and Q2 made the notion of ever needing another Quake inconceivable.

Re: Go Go Beckham! (GBA)
How come such an excellent and original platform game was squandered on a celebrity licence where, as any fule kno, second rate derivative tat is the norm?

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
speedlolita - I love your spice orange gameboy player, to match the console. Excellent work. I have a boring purple one. (Incidentally I was gobsmacked by how good some of the GBA titles look on the TV.) Further to previous discussion freeloader discs are, I think, a good option - and probably cheap...
