Re: Retro Gamer Issue 113 - Feedback Thread

The glorious cover for the glorious Amiga makes this a glorious issue! I wonder why the big photo of the mouse is not the Amiga mouse, though? The Amiga mouse was quite distinctive. I'd never heard of a games industry "crash" in 1977 during the transition between single-game consoles and programmabl...

Re: Retro Gamer Features Index spreadsheet

Hello again. I have just updated the first post of the thread with new links, because I'm afraid I left very old links here for a long time! I've also looked at the Google Drive documents and set them to be viewable by the public, so hopefully there will be no odd permission issues now. Hopefully th...

Re: Issue 80 feedback

The Ultimate Guide is a great idea for a feature, though I feel it requires some further development. In its current form it reminds me of the GamesTM Retro features - interesting to read and accessible to a broad audience who have never heard of the game, but lacking in the detail that RG usually ...

Re: Hot Topic - Best Handheld

I went for the Game Boy, mostly for nostalgia reasons. I probably would have chosen the Game Boy Color if it was an option. I should have chosen GBA because its games are at the perfect point of 16-bit loveliness, which I think is the best state for handheld gaming to be. However, I don't really enj...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Correct! I didn't know whether that would be easy or hard. I only just heard of the game (considering myself to be quite well versed in Zelda games) and I thought it was pretty cool to discover it.

Re: Screenshot challenge.

Okay, my first one! Not as entirely easy as it looks - you'll need to be quite specific.

Re: Which mags covering Castlevania and Metal slug?

Yes indeed, check out my spreadsheet! It was made for just this kind of query.

Two of the three big features noted by Jet Pilot - The History of Castlevania and The Definitive Metal Slug - can both be found in the Collection Volume 4 bookazine that's out right now for £9.99.

Re: Best/Worst game cases

My PS1 games consisted of mostly cracked cases with broken hinges. Very shoddy. Any cardboard cases didn't matter, I didn't leave cartridges in them. The boxes just went out of the way somewhere. Amiga boxes could be very pretty, but again, I just had to put them somewhere out of the way, so the fac...

Re: Improving the magazine

It's always fun to watch the Angry Videogame Nerd when he occasionally briefly reviews things on the C64. He considers it a massive chore to load things onto the C64 from floppy disk! And he didn't even mention the concept of tape loading, leading me to think that Americans never used the tape deck ...

Re: Issue 80 feedback

I just tried playing Axelay for the first time (emulator, Xbox 360 pad). I honestly couldn't get more than 10 seconds into it! The things encircle you, and I have no idea how to survive them. It's so utterly deflating when you can't even experience the game for more than 10 seconds. Killed, killed, ...

Re: Improving the magazine

One-Off Features The mag can be heavily templated at times, so we're aiming to get more one-off features into the mag to keep it fresh and exciting. We do them every now and then, but we're planning to get at least one into each issue. Topics will include copy protection , car booting, the amiga pu...

Re: Improving the magazine

The main reason I wouldn't want free gifts is because I don't ever want the magazine sealed in a bag. I know nearly everybody on this board is probably a subscriber to RG, so it doesn't matter to you. But there are always casual readers in the shop who have to decide whether to spend £4.99 on the ma...

Re: Improving the magazine

80 issues and still no Mario feature? :( Will that improve the magazine though? It would improve it for a month! Seriously though, any improvements would just be minor tweaks. I can't think of anything drastically wrong with the mag. Something I just wrote in another thread: Retro Revivals a...
