Re: Controversial magazine Reviews/Scores

I remember reading one issue of Sega Pro and deciding which megadrive game to buy, it was a close one between Quackshot (which had received about 95%) and PIT FIGHTER which also received 95%!!! I chose Quackshot and I'm glad to look back and be satisfied that I made the correct choice :) Then again ...

Re: Europe's largest arcade - in Bury !

Took a visit on Sunday from Coventry as part of a trip to Manchester - Arcade Club, what a great place! I mainly went for the pinball (Twilight Zone, Metallica and FunHouse especially!) but had a go on Ghouls and Ghosts, Pacland and Bishi Bashi :) The flat entrance fee is a great idea, and I'll be t...

Re: Games that pushed hardware limits

Hello folks,
we have a great thread on this here: http://www.retrogamer.net/forum/viewtop ... =2&t=22911

Plus the Game Sack guys on YouTube did three really interesting videos on this very subject! :)

Re: Would you rather...

I nearly ticked 'both', but meant both as in I'd buy one magazine about computers *and* consoles, rather than two separate magazines. So i guess my answer would be 'neither'? :S

I went from a philips videopac to a C64 to a megadrive and PS1 to PC, so I like gaming on both consoles and computers :)

Re: Games that pushed a system to the limit

I've started watching Game Sack's channel on Youtube (it's an entertaining watch, worth checking out!) and they cover this subject in no less than three interesting videos, picking up a few games we have (and haven't mentioned!). Here are the links: Games that Pushed Hardware Limits Part 1: https://...

Re: Sonic Mania Thoughts

Even at this early stage Sonic Mania has the hallmarks of a return to form. The developer has a proven track record (and earned their job by impressing Sega with a homemade demo); the game sticks to the classic Sonic gameplay, graphical style and physics (the latter sorely lacking in the underwhelmi...

Re: EA Access (xbox one)

It's a great deal, especially for the sports games which you'd usually play for 10 months before abandoning in favour of the next year's title! There's more new stuff on there now including the beautiful Unravel, and the newest Need for Speed game. For a year, £20 is, as my friend put it, 'the bigge...

Re: Sonic Mania (Brand New Retro Inspired Sonic Game)

This looks brilliant, the best news since Sonic Generations!

If this is a big success I wonder if Sega would follow suit with an official console launch of the incredible Streets of Rage Remake? :)

Re: Games that pushed a system to the limit

I guess the definition of pushing to the limit is down to personal opinion, but it could generally be referred to as 'doing as much with a system as it is conventionally possible to do', or, 'through clever programming or trickery of some kind, presenting graphics/sound/technical displays that appea...

Re: Games that pushed a system to the limit

Hello! I've been watching some YouTube videos this evening and I stumbled upon this video, which I thought was worthy of addition to (and subsequent revival of!) this thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJfCitvSsZQ There are a couple of great examples in there, but I'm surprised that they didn't...

Re: Rare Replay

Interesting that it sounds like everyone on this thread ordered physical copies. I bought mine digitally, which is a departure for me, for a new game that is available physically at least. I think my reasoning was threefold; I have too many game boxes these days; I don't have to keep switching discs...

Wow that's impressive, it works, thank you! :)

What's the reasoning behind that then... in effect what did I just do?
