Zub archive
We've added a new page to the Pickford Brothers website, a Zub archive: http://www.zee-3.com/pickfordbros/archive/zub.php . It's an in-depth article about the development of this mostly forgotten 8-bit title, and a close look at some of the graphics, for anyone who might be interested in this kind o...

Naked War - our 'indie' game is out.

The game is free to download and play from http://www.naked-war.com , and you can see screenshots, movies, and links to the first couple of reviews on that site (including ...

Re:
It did make me laugh reading about the C64 coder doing the c64 version of Feud. Why did you keep him on? Surely there were other coders who could have taken his place??? We didn't run the studio that was writing Feud, we just worked there. We weren't happy that our game was being ruined, but it was...

Pickford Brothers website open
John and I have finally opened our website, which contains loads of info about the games we've worked on (around 90 titles at the last count), from the 8-bit home computer days right up to current generation consoles. You can find it here: http://www.zee-3.com If you ever loaded a pirate of one of o...

Re:
I have no problem accepting this, but it assumes that the artist is actually conscious about it and not only finds it easier to work with black. I wouldn't _bet_ on all pixel wielders back in the day doing so. Yeah, I don't think it was concious, and as you hint, most pixels artists in those days c...

The colours on all the 8 bit machines were very strong and bright, so it was difficult to use any colour (other than black) across a large proportion of the screen without it becoming overpowering - almost hurting the eye. I seem to remember that if you made the whole screen white on the C64 you got...
