Re: Computer games better than their arcade counterparts

Final Fight on the Amiga was a great conversion, came close I would say. Probably didnt surpass it though. Final Fight on the Amiga was pretty bad actually if you ask me. Graphically, it was solid enough but it was very sluggish compared to the original (the fastness of your punches was one of the ...

Re: Do Games Get Better With Technology?

Although I'd be tempted to say outright that retro games are so much better then newer games, I ticked the third option because at the end of the day, I do judge games for what they are. There has always been and always will be a vast majority of crap to wade through to find the gems, old or new. I ...

Re: Gaming's biggest tool?

Agreed on Tim Langdell. He has nothing going for him at all and has ridiculous lawsuits against hapless, innocent developers.

Billy Mitchell is a pretty big tool with his over-the-top 'I'm so great' attitude but at least he has some highscores, which means he has actually done something.

Re: If you could keep just one ?

If we're talking actual machines then, it's the PC for me, just because I'm into the free indie game scene (I <3 Spelunky) and also MAME access. Don't really care about using the keyboard for games either, even though I could use a controller if I wanted to.

I think the simplicity is what makes it work - neat. I liked it.

Re: Do You Only Collect Mint Games?

I'm not a very hardcore collector really, so I take what I can get when it comes to collecting. Aside from that I don't really have the funds to attempt to collect mint games.

Re: Which console do u think was the biggest missed opportun

Have to agree with the Dreamcast.. was a pretty powerful system for its time with a nice controller.

Not sure about the CD32.. I tend to think it was destined to fail really.

Re: POLL: Hardcore Retrogamer or Casual Retrogamer?

I would've put Retro Games only, except, well I spend my time playing indie games for the most part (which are very retro-orientated anyways) so I put mostly retro. I do very occasionally get exposed to modern commercial games but really don't enjoy them a whole lot in general.

C64 for me. Amstrad and Spectrum weren't very big in Australia, so I think it wins for me by default because I played so many good games at friends' houses on it and loved a lot of the soundtracks too.

Re: First Game Ever Bought?

I think, if memory serves me correctly, it was Robocod for the Amiga. I was going to buy Ghouls'n'Ghosts but the shop attendant advised me against it because it was 'too hard for your kids'. Anyways I didn't regret the purchase.. always loved Robocod, played it to death.

Re: Mankiest Second-Hand Game You've Ever Bought?

I know whenever I pick-up a large bundle of Atari 2600 games or SMS games that there are a couple of cartridges that are in pretty bad nick (stickers badly ripped or torn or the cartridge itself rattles like it has something loose inside it).
