Re: Best Spectrum games

Blimey, only five?

Here goes, then, in no particular order

Split Personalities (Domark)
Rainbow Islands (Ocean)
Jetpac (Ultimate)
Technician Ted (Hewson)
Manic Miner (Soft Proj)

Though ask me again tomorrow, and you might get a different five. :D

How about something on Horace, he who was Hungry, went Skiing and met some Spiders? Or how about a feature on some of the worst games of all time? You could start with Macsens disastrous EastEnders or Friday the 13th from Domark. What about a feature on quiz games? This could feature Trivial Pursuit...

Nice cover. Love the red background too. I'd rather see a cover like this than last months, which was something that The Games Machine might have put on the cover.

Turbo Esprit 2 would have been fantastic - more and larger cities to explore, different cars to drive, more tasks. It could have been more free form too.

Re:

Oooo a tough one, but I would have to choose Spindizzy. They could have gone to town with this one with more interesting terrain and obstacles, give your character guns to shoot things with etc and give the different forms you can take different characteristics. There was Spindizzy Worlds for the 1...

I get mine from WHSMiths either at Sheffield, Meadowhall or Worksop. They've usually got a few copies in. Have you tried getting your local newsagent to get a copy for you every month?

So far so good. Really enjoyed the Activision and CPC articles, but no mention of the far inferior Ghostbusters for the Speccy. Probably best not to mention it, come to think of it.

For me it would be a toss up between either the Gremlin cover disk or the one with all the Spectrum endings on it - took me many happy hours to go through em all and rekindle some fond memories.

If you send me the Speccy and games, I will send, by return of post, a mint ZX Spectrum plus and 76 games.

Can't say fairer than that (except I just said it)

Well, I drew Paraguay in the sweepstake, so it won't be them. I did draw Frank Lampard and Ronaldinho for the Golden Boot, so I've got a chance there.

Re:

Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning... great era. Did you know Katy Manning posed nude with a dalek? Seriously - that's a fact! Can't remember if it was for Playboy or Mayfair. I'll dig around after for my copy to check... I think it was "Girl International". I'm sure the piccies are around the net...
