Re: the Hi-Fi thread
I’ve always wanted a standalone MiniDisc separate, but to be fair I’ve got three portable MD recorders, which is probably overkill as it is.

Re: Controversial magazine Reviews/Scores
Towards the end of my interest in Sega Power, the book was getting thinner, and reviews were getting lazier. Sonic Chaos got a score well in the 90s, which suckered me in and left me forking out for a real dud of a game. There was an MD Disney tie-in - possibly the Jungle Book - where the review was...

Re: what is your biggest disappointment in gaming
Sonic Chaos on the MS. Just rubbish. Reviews at the time were glowing, saying it was some kind of technical marvel, but it was just sinfully easy, and really not all that impressive to look at. Having been obsessed with the 8-bit Sonic II, Chaos was one of the few games of the era I bought in the we...

Re: Top 25 Master System Games
Land Of Illusion - absolutely stunning. Improved massively on the original and at a time when every other release seemed to be a platformer, it showed up everything around it on every system. Alex Kidd In Miracle World - the perfect bundled game. Bags of character and variety, loads of replay value ...

Re: Mario Kart 8
I'm really disappointed with it so far. Some nice touches, but it just hasn't grabbed me in the same way MK Wii did. Lots of incredibly average tracks as well, including both Rainbow Roads. Lack of Team Battle mode is a bummer as well, and as mentioned elsewhere dripping the ability to drag a second...

Re: Insane Magazine Reviews
Loads in Sega Power, from the point that they cut the pagination drastically, stopped trying to cobble words together and just crammed in as many screenshots as possible to save on work. There were several games getting 90% plus around 1995/96, with more or less no explanation why. Loads of reviews ...

Re: End-of-game bosses that are rubbish
The end of Halo 4 is abysmal.
Last boss in Alex Kidd In Miracle World is pretty underwhelming as well.

Re: Classic Game Memories........DUKE NUKEM 3D
I think Doom was maybe the fifth FPS i ever played, and that made a huge difference to how I viewed it. First I ever played was Zero Tolerance on the Mega-Drive, which was limited but had bags of atmosphere. I still think it's a hugely overlooked game. Next i saw was Wolfenstein 3D, which I found pr...

The last "battle" in Halo 4 barely qualifies.

Re: Best Film and TV licences
Speaking of the Alien films, Alien: Resurrection on the Playstation was absolutely superb, and remains sadly overlooked by many. Leagues ahead of the (I imagine bigger selling) Alien Trilogy, and one of the tensest gaming experiences I've ever had. I recently revived it on my PSP, and playing it la...

Re: Best Film and TV licences
T2: The Arcade Game blew me away at the time. Completely immersive. Time hasn't been the kindest to it, but it was both impressive and bloody difficult. More overlooked, Terminator: Future Shock on the PC. It never figures in anyone's top FPS lists, but it was pretty impressive and had some excellen...
