LMAO. Seriously. There are some awesome posts here. I feel like I've joined a video game AA meeting. Haha. A lot of the things people raised are really interesting: the smell and sounds of old consoles, buying everything, then selling everything again on Ebay. It's just a weird thing i guess a kind ...

The real thing will always be better for actual sitting down and playing though. I guess it depends on what system. I mean for SNES and NES and old SEGA stuff i really don't see much difference, if any, in the ports. Thats why I make the point about the controllers. Coz really if you're sitting dow...

When the internet first came around there was this notion that it would free us from physicality. We wouldn't need to print anymore, music is virtual, games are virtual, video itself is purely data. But that's been proven wrong. Maybe still we are making that transition into the virtual. We all have...

So what are games then if they are simply reduced to the shelf? Is it to look cool that you own an intense amount of games? That's a real interesting point. "I want them to look good on my shelf". To me in a sense that notion devalues gaming, because then they're not games, they're merely objects. I...

Emulation Vs Original Carts

What do people think? This past two weeks i've been going mad on Ebay, buying up all these old vintage games, systems and what-not. Then i thought, hang-on, what am i doing? I thought about the Wii, most of the old school games i want to play i can play via virtual console. I guess i thought i was g...

The aesthetic of them has really permeated current art and graphic trends, i mean, with pixel art i guess. And homebrew or indi games. Even if next-gen consoles don't do retro graphics, there's still a lot of it on DS and online games so i guess newer gamers can still tap into from there, to the cla...

So what does it mean? Are all the readers of Retro Gamer 30 - 40? I mean are kids buying it? I wonder what the demographic is of people downloading the VC games for the Wii? If you wanted to market Retro, then are you targeting 30 - 40 yo's? Could young gamers be in your target market or do they thi...

Demographic of retro gamers?

Hi there, just signed up to the forum, first post! Just got a thing boggling in my mind... What do you think the age of retro gamers is? I know i am 25 and am completely obsessed with the SNES, probably because i grew up with it. But i wonder, are the kids of today into retro games? Are any of them ...
