Re: No Man Sky
I want to love this game as a big fan of hard science fiction novels and their garish otherworldly cover art, but every time I boot it up, something is incredibly broken. At release it ran like turd, skipping and freezing randomly, when they released the base building update, it would just crash at ...

Re: Gods Remastered.
Oh dear.
They would be better off just updating the original to make the playfield wider for modern monitors, boost the framerate and a convenient save system. One of the best things about Gods is the incredible pixel art, why on earth would you want to lose that?

Re: Computer/console games you prefer over arcade counterpar
I definitely would rather play Super Sprint with a joystick, so I would pick the ST version over the arcade every time. And I agree, the arcade version of Bubble Bobble is too stressful, and the jump physics are slightly different, which always puts me off.

Re: who here youtubes then?
My channel is dedicated to Atari ST games: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-idf0S9putk5R0RRB2ppKA I use the Steem Atari ST emulator and capture the video using Camtasia and record my witterings using a Samson Go Mic. I then mix it all together with a pinch of awesome using Camtasia Studio. I would ...

Wow, incredible work dude! And thanks for sharing!
I never knew the Beeb could sound so good. And that LED Storm tune totally rocks my world, even though I hear it two times a week! Tim Follin is a wizard.

Re: Atari ST and Amiga Free games with magazines
I got Starball and Llamatron free on an ST format cover disk, and those are two of the best games available for the ST. I remember Interphase too, but I think I was a little young to appreciate the subtleties of that one - my memory is telling me it was just one big escort mission! Other ST freebies...

When you plug in a second stick and press fire on that to start a game, you can play it twin-stick style for more awesome.

Re: Greatest BBC Micro games
Like any top ten list, these will fluctuate daily!
10. Codename: Droid
9. Snapper
8. Planetoid
7. Boffin
6. Cybertron Mission
5. Danger UXB
4. Plan B
3. Elite
2. Repton
1. Chuckie Egg
Most of these were experienced on my own Electron, but also on my (richer) friend's BBC, so I hope that counts.

Re: Favourite Video Game Magazines
I don't think anyone has mentioned Zero yet, and that was my absolute favourite. I would devour every last word written in that mag, particularly enjoying the crass and bawdy humour. I still have all of my old copies, but I'm fearful of returning to it to find it silly and puerile to my boring, adul...

Re: Are there any books about the UK micro industry in the 8
Maybe you should grab the Retrogamer DVD's. Those back-issues would be a great place to find information regarding UK companies. Hardly an issue goes by without some kind of in-depth look at a UK dev or developed game. I have each and every issue of the magazine in paperform. ;) Aah, super! A coupl...

Re: Are there any books about the UK micro industry in the 8
We should all know of The Ultimate History of Video Games which is an awesome book that chronicles the emerging arcade gaming culture in detail, but I'd like to know if there are any books, that go into as much detail, about the British computer industry and all the many microcomputers produced the...

Re: NERG - north east retro gaming event!
I would love to come to this, but it's a right trek for me to get up to you! I have a friend who lives in Stockton-on-Tees, so maybe I can stop off on the way, break up the journey a little. More importantly, when looking at Google Maps for the location, I found a place on the way called Pity Me... ...

Re: Superman games
I'd do a lot more with Clarke... I like your 'outside the box' thinking, but no-one wants to be Clarke, he's a giant douche. As for Superman being invincible, that should be made a central game mechanic! It would be so much fun punching bad guys into the next millenium, shooting eye-lasers and stuf...

Re: twitter DRM protest
I would imagine the only kind of protest that will have any real effect is if people stop buying games that have restrictive DRM - which will probably never happen. Boycotts rarely carry any real financial weight, but some have more subtle effects. Take Baby Milk Action for example, which succeeded ...
