Re: The 8-Bit Book - 1981 to 199x ... SAMPLE CHAPTER NOW ONLINE!
So it doesn't actually state that the Synapse version was released (i.e. made available commercially), and there's no Synapse version cover artwork or disk/tape images either (only screen shots, which didn't actually prove the pysical existence of the Synapse release - after all, there are screen s...

Why do you state Alley Cat wasn't released by Synapse Software? It certainly was... I think you mixed up Synapse Software - the original company from the US - and SynSoft - the US Gold label for imported Synapse Software games.

Tony, just a mention of our site on one of the pages will be absolutely fine, no need to remove anything. We sincerely appreciate your work - I visit World of Spectrum on a fairly regular basis - and Atarimania will be happy to assist you in any of your projects should you need further help. Thanks ...

Are you sure your emulator settings are correct? Never saw such colors when playing the game. This is what it should look like on a PAL system: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.p ... ON_ID=2414

Just cover the XL/XE (Euro variants) :?: Don't forget the disasters like the 600 etc ;-) 600XL. Not sure why you call it a disaster either... While it was only 16K, you could buy a 1064 interface for 64K. Anyway, all cartridges ran fine on it back in the day and there were a number of 16K tapes as ...

well, speaking for hungary, the apple machines were kinda unknown just like the cpc here. apple was always that overprized bloated hyped hardware like today. I was referring to the early eighties and not necessarily the home market (as we were discussing global sales). I would believe you either ha...

Ah, but it wasn't everywhere and that was my point. i've only ever seen one Apple ][ here, that was owned by a university. I see. I was interpreting things on a strict worldwide scale where the Apple ][ was incredibly successful mostly everywhere in the world, particularly in schools and small busi...

But there are very few machines that span the world, especially amongst the 8-bits; the C64 didn't make it in every territory, the Atari 8-bit didn't go everywheres, the Spectrum the same... the "smaller" sellers (for want of a better word when i'm this tired, i apologise in advance for any misunde...

Eventually Amstrad released machines that were appropriate for the family, the amateurs and the professionals. It is very difficult to succeed in these three categories simultaneously. Well, that doesn't really make the Amstrad CPC any more special than a C64, an Apple II or an Atari if you ask me....

Well, I use the default.act palette. Thing is the saturation, black and white levels need to be adjusted as the original values don't match what I see on my TV at all.

Thanks for the review. I don't know which settings you used for the Atari version (default palette it seems) but the colors are off, hence some terribly dark graphics. I just updated our page for the game and it looks more or less like this on my PAL system: http://atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?MEN...
