Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200

DRS your interview with Mathew Smith was superb and I can very much related to Mathew. I think a lot of people have rose tinted glasses to bedroom programmers whilst Matt says it’s not really as good as people think. Chasing publishers to get payed. One of the best issues I read In a long time. I t...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200

The comments by Ely on interviewing Matt Smith about a difficult time in his life are fair, though. As you can perhaps detect in the opening of that piece, I am honest at how uncomfortable I felt at times. I have known Matt since 2004 and been up to see him in Liverpool 7 times since then, sometime...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 200

Ah it is lovely reading this thread - it is indeed heartening to hear the congratulations for reaching 200 and the positive feedback on this epic issue. Makes me feel very proud being a part of the mag since issue 5. Cheers. Yet, it is the way of the human that of course I am focusing on the negativ...

Re: Questions for Big Boy Barry (off the telly. In the 90s)

What excellent questions - cheers all! I shall pose 'em all. And keep 'em coming! Oh and I do agree with how they seemed quite happy to crush kids in the challenges - no patronising back in the 90s...

Questions for Big Boy Barry (off the telly. In the 90s)

Hello all - my next interviewee didn't make games but he played a lot of 'em on telly and though his mum knows him as Alex Verrey, you will probably know him as Big Boy Barry. He's probably best known for his time on Gamesworld (broadcast by Sky in the 90s), though a youthful Barry appeared on Games...

Re: You Ask The Questions - Francois Lionet

Andy Walker of Taskset is on record as saying 'The Oric was only really good for using as a doorstop. And even then, it didn't have rubber feet to stop it slipping.'

Would Francois like to defend the Oric or is he happy for it to be described as a 'butee de port'?

Hope it goes well Merman

Re: Questions for Mark 'Kick Off' Greenshields

Right, I spoke to Mark last week so sorry TheAlex - which is a pity as you seem to really know stuff about some of his games!!! Do post a question next time I do an interview and I'll really try to get you in. Cheers everyone who posted questions before I did interview - have managed to one in from ...

Questions for Mark 'Kick Off' Greenshields

Hope you're all doing well. My next Desert Island Disks castaway has been making games since the early 80s and it's an entertaining and (by his own admission) mixed bag of good and bad stuff! Mark is still in the industry, now based in Orlando making games, so hope you can find time to post a questi...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

Whilst I’m certainly no prude when it comes to language, there are at least three F bombs dropped in this issue. Is there any reason for this? Or would said articles containing them not have been the same with them taken out? I feel I am qualified to answer this as I'm fairly confident two of those...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

This is the first issue in ages where i've flicked through it and nothing has jumped out at me as a must read. I'll still enjoy reading it, but not Dog's Life which is really not something I'd expect to find in RG. Started reading this now and I have to say I really enjoyed the Tony Takoushi interv...

Questions for Rebecca 'Bard's Tale' Heineman

Hello all - my first interviewee of 2019 has quite the tale. Rebecca has been in the business since the early 80s, helping to found Interplay and has had stints at EA and Ubisoft among many others. She's been involved in a huge number of games and I've done a 'Selected timeline' below but look at he...
