Re: Questions for Dan Cheap MDF rubbish

Ha! The forum alters any mention of that room in your house which you cook in and have discos in during lockdown to cheap MDF rubbish! Hey mods, can you call him by his true name? Though Dan Cheap MDF Rubbish could be his rap name. Ta.

Questions for Dan Kitche.n

Hello all - I'm speaking to Dan Kitche.n this Friday and of all the people I've interviewed over the last 16 years, I think he may have had a hand in most games. The list below isn't even complete! He did some on his own, some with his brother Garry and some he led the team or was the producer, so h...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 209

That Chris Cannon interview is superb. Also enjoyed the 3d Monster Maze, BBC Minority report and Rebel Assult articles. Thanks for the kind words about the Chris Cannon piece (you too, Merman, Rossi46 and psj3809) - he was fun to talk to and I think that came across on the page. Next month I have s...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 208 - Back to the 80s

I finally got my physical copy and smiled a lot at the big 80s feature - it's just the sort of wide-ranging, imaginative article the mag does so well. Nice one Daz, Nick and Drew for making it happen. But I have to say I was slightly disappointed in one respect - the opening text promised 'iconoclas...

Re: Questions for Tony 'Daley Thompson' Pomfret

Thanks for taking the time to post these questions. Much appreciated. Spoke to Tony for almost 2 hours on Thursday - he is very frank, very funny and very sweary. Hope they keep it in as that's how he talks. Next time my interviewee is an American with a career that starts on the Atari VCS and takes...

Re: Questions for Tony 'Daley Thompson' Pomfret

Excellent questions folks! Much appreciated. Will ask 'em all this Thursday (so if anyone else wants to ask anything, do it before then). And I will definitely ask about his memories of working with Joffa, too.

Questions for Tony 'Daley Thompson' Pomfret

Hello everyone - my next interviewee spent time at Ocean, Special FX, Rage, Software Creations and Acclaim amongst others and has been making games since the 8-bit days. Tony has provided a handy softography (see below) and I'm chatting to him next Thursday (June 11th) so if you'd like to post any q...

Re: Questions for Chris 'Software Projects' Cannon

Cheers folks - so many good questions! I'll try to get them all in - even if I have to stick them into the main article rather than the boxout (i see the In the Chair this issue had an extended readers' questions section so might try that!)

Really appreicate you taking the time... ta.

Questions for Chris 'Software Projects' Cannon

Hello all - hope you're staying safe and well and coping with lockdown. If you have a few minutes stuck at home, why not post a question here for my next In the Chair interviewee? Chris Cannon worked at Bug Byte and Software Projects and was right in the thick of the Liverpool software scene of the ...

Questions for Howie 'Atari/Gottlieb/Jaleco' Rubin

Hello all - my next In the Chair interviewee was right in the thick of it in the Golden Age of Arcades (TM), working at Atari, setting up the videogame division at Gottlieb and becoming President of Jaleco, which meant close links with Nintendo. Below is a mini bio (in Howie's own words) and some of...

Re: JSW guided tour (issue 201)

Thanks for the kind words though I also feel a right t***. I stupidly thought that first comment was saying I'd done a good job as 'the author'. I felt all warm inside at receiving unsolicited praise. But of course he actually meant Matthew Smith. I am duly chastised. Vanity, vanity, all is vanity....

Re: JSW guided tour (issue 201)

I really enjoyed it. When I interviewed the creator of Space Taxi, he gave me notes on all the levels. Unfortunately only a couple of those comments ended up in the mag... I love that game. And wish we'd had a guided tour of it! I suppose not as many people know of it's charms as some other 8-bit m...

Re: JSW guided tour (issue 201)

Yeah, I can understand that Nikolai - thanks for at least reading some of it! It helps if you've always wanted to know just why Matthew put some weird creature in some odd location and where the idea came from... and for many of us who grew up with MM/JSW, as Antiriad notes, it really does. Ah, nost...
