Re: Let's talk about booze.

I had the following single cask whiskies at a whisky tasting tonight- Craigellachie 14yo Arran 18yo Inchgower 18yo Highland Park 16yo North British (Single Grain) 50yo - distilled in 1962! Mortlach 22yo All 6 were really excellent but I would say the Highland Park was my favroite, due to the complex...

Re: Let's talk about booze.

Don't just neck the shots, either. Keep each sip in the mouth (at least 5-seconds), rolling around, coating the tongue - some of the flavour takes a few moments to appear, and if you are feeling brave either a small breath in through your teeth to invigorate the fumes or a mouth-wash shuck; then sw...

Re: Real Ale Drinkers or Lagerboys?

Well, Orval wasn't that bad at all. Only a whiff on hops, but a more pronounced herbal aftertaste covered that up. Quite pleasing, and one I will drink again (if Chimay Grande or Kwak is not available!). I quite like Kwak, i've got one of those Kwak glasses with the wooden holder, looks like a scie...

Re: What's your Tablet?

My iPad 4, 32gb, is my main device. I got it in the first week of launch which is nearly 3 years ago now. I actullay don't own a computer and have coped without one since the first iPad. I've not fealt the need to upgrade it since and doubt I will unless it breaks or apple bring out an iPad with a l...

Re: Let's talk about booze.

My facourite of the night was The Balvenie, I would love a bottle but don't have £560 spare  Well at least you can get a younger version for a more 'normal' price... The only 'proper' whisky I've had is Talisker and I wasn't a huge fan of the actual flavour. I've noticed that there is also a ...

Re: Let's talk about booze.

Wowzers that's an expensive tipple. Why is it so costly? Was it fermented by Polynesian virgins filtered through Unicorn hair? Well it has been in a barrel for 30 years, not only is that a long time to store something but they will loose a lot to evaporation. As an example of this the 47 ye...

Re: Let's talk about booze.

This thread went downhill fast. Anyway, on a more positive note I've got a few tastings and festivals booked in the coming weeks.. This Sarurday i'm at the Whisky Shop 2nd Birthday tasting, each memeber of staff will be opening their favourite bottle and talk us through why they love it. Next Friday...

Re: The price of retro

I'm not sure I would enjoy collecting the same if I started now. The prices have gone crazy since I started about 10 years back. Also it is rare I see anything of interest outside the internet, it really takes the fun out of it for me (collecting specifically I mean). I used to enjoy getting bargain...

Re: Do you talk to people in real life like that?

You can post a knee jerk reaction on a forum, realise you are probably fueling an issue and delete it again.. In real life it tends to escalate once you open your mouth.

I say this becasue I just did that very thing.
