Re: XBLA Obselete email and forgotten password.
One of the XBLA agents suggested that to me in a chat session but it looks like somebody jumped in my grave and signed up a new account under the name - I seem to recall trying to log into it a while back and discovering that the password was wrong as opposed to the name simply being expired. It sti...

XBLA Obselete email and forgotten password.
In short... Account on 360 is tied to a yahoo email address that expired years ago and I've only just noticed this. The password apparently isn't the one I thought it was. Attempts to recover the password fail because the xbox.com support webpage insists on either sending the password change email t...

Re: Are there any short JRPG's?
Penny Arcade Aventures : On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 3 is a short-and-sweet game in the style of SNES JRPGs.

Re: iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch game recommendations
I've found that Ridiculous Fishing's £1.99 price point has encouraged me to spend more time with it and correspondingly I've got into more than I would have done had it been free or 69p in which case it would have got played two or three times and forgotten about.

Re: Tweaks/Tricks you had to get games to load.
I used to believe that some Speccy games were easier to load reliably if I wasn't present in the room at the time! My Super Wildcard on the SNES required a fair bit of packing out with cardboard to stop it wobbling in the slot and causing random "ZX81 RAM pack" crashes. Also the PS1 seemed to get it...

Re: What's the last thing you bought from PSN or Xbox Live?
Spelunky is an absolute stunner. In all the games I've played of it, every single time I've got killed I've had to admit that it was entirely my own fault.
I have to admit to buying both of the currently available Capcom Arcade Cabinet collections.

Re: Ye Olde User Created Content
Championship Sprint on the Speccy (Super Sprint sequel) had a level editor, I remember coming back home from the Birmingham Superprix in '88 or '89 and recreating the Brum city centre track! Since Championship appeared to be the same game as Super Sprint with different tracks, only a cynic could wo...

Re: lemans 24
You save in the pits so it's not entirely lost on a foul-up. One of the Dreamcast mags did the 24 hour mode in one of the mag staff's flat, seat, wheel and pedals and with a crash helmet on for added realism, manual gearbox. Finished last but one IIRC. I remember one part of the article explaining h...

TBH my first thought when seeing that drainpipe pic was that it was a Marble Madness-inspired p'shop!

Re: THQ has no sympathy
Good point about Hollywood. Of course what the publishers have forgotten is that the big Hollywood studios work on the premise that out of every ten films they produce, seven will lose money, two will break even and one will make enough to carry the seven. In games it seems that everything has to be...

Re: THQ has no sympathy
My question from page 1 remains unanswered though - what makes the leisure software industry such a precious little snowflake such that it deserves special exemption not given to anybody else? Person X works in the sector and thinks he should get more money? That's not an answer I'm afraid. Interest...

Re: THQ has no sympathy
I only buy second-hand cars(*). What I fail to grasp is why the software companies feel they have an entitlement to a cut in second sales or an entitlement to prevent this in form that no other retail good or manufacturer of such good has. None of them have ever explained this. Ever. I'm sure Vauxha...

Re: Xbox 360 Overscan anger
From my reading of the XNA documentation apart from avoiding the very edges of the screen, scaling is something the machine should handle. It should just work. Perhaps they just assumed this and didn't give it any thought?
