Re: Street fighter X Tekken and DLC bitching

I got this on Friday, and have been playing it solidly offline all weekend (got the sore thumb to prove it). It was my first foray into Street Fighter for 10+ years (been playing Tekken/SC since then) and I'm really enjoying the change. I love the way the Tekken characters have been interpreted into...

Re: Street fighter X Tekken

I've just forked out on the pre-order, having decided against bothering with Soul Calibur. It's going to be my first buy of the SFIV generation of games, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a bit disappointed that Cody and Guy aren't part of the initial roster, but they're strongly tipped to b...

Re: RENEGADE... Best version?

I was working at Ocean when Renegade was being converted. Even back then it was obvious to everyone downstairs in the cellars that the Amstrad version was the best, the Spectrum 2nd and the C64 limping behind in 3rd place. I agree that Renegade on the amstrad was easily the best conversion - it's r...

Re: Thou Shalt Not Pass

The JSW attic bug was the first one I heard of (although I never got far enough to encounter it myself). Also on the Speccy, I think that it was impossible to complete Frankie Goes to Hollywood, as you could never become more than 99% human. Finally, there was a bug in Target Renegade on levels 2 & ...

Re: Saints Row The Third (Consoles and PC)

Unlike the PC version of SR2; Saints Row 3 is very robust indeed. Plus it's a tenner cheaper, has a very active costume community, and will undoubtedly have the same (if not even better) modding community rise up too. Worth a punt of anyone's cash. Check out TotalBiscuit's WTF is video of it. PC ve...

Re: Saints Row The Third (Consoles and PC)

I'm pretty close to getting this game for the PC. I just wondered how you're all enjoying it so far - does it seem to be pretty bug-free? I got completely robbed on my last pc purchase (Heroes 6) and don't feel like paying out on another game that isnt ready to be played yet.

Re: Saints Row the Third

I never buy full price as I said. Play.com (my usual place-du-purchase) has the pre-order Xbox 360 version at £38.89 and the PC version at £28.89 so waiting 2 or 3 weeks will easily see £10-£15 lopped off those prices. Plus by then the inevitable patch will be released. Exactly the same here, I've ...

Re: Street fighter X Tekken

I have mixed feelings about the roster size - in a way, I'd like a large number, but it does tend to make it hard to produce a well balanced game. Not being a hardcore gamer any more, I also struggle with large rosters because too many opponents are just 'unknown' to me. I guess another good thing a...

Re: Street fighter X Tekken

I saw a theory on another message board regarding the newest trailer which made sense to me - when Poison & Hugo and Guy & Cody all show up you see the big flashy "New Challenger" sign which might be insinuating that they will all be playable in the game while Haggar didn't which means he may not b...

Re: Street fighter X Tekken

It's looking very encouraging for Final Fight fans - a 2 minute trailer featuring Poison, Hugo, Cody, Guy and a glimpse of Haggar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esnX9WUdUBo I think that so far only Poison is definitely confirmed as a playable character, but it seems likely that she'll be partnered ...

Speaking of Golden Axe, surely Death=Adder must take the prize for silliest use of punctuation in a character name?

Re: Konami's Violent Storm and Vendetta

Vendetta wasnt in the arcades near me, but I played it quite a lot over a couple of holidays, I thought it was alright at the time, but I can appreciate it more now, and think it's quite underrated. As you say the number of unique moves and background interractions is quite immense - I can't think o...

Re: Games that were a labour of love....

Some good calls on Shenmue and Football Manager Mine might be an odd choice - Vendetta / Crime Fighters 2 - it's one which I never thought much about at the time, but impresses me a lot now. The amount of work that was put into animating the character moves and reactions, as well as all the backgrou...

Re: Cheats engrained in your memory

I havent used that many cheats over the years (honest) Arkanoid (Spectrum) The first cheat I ever learnt, enter PBRAIN on the high score table to get infinite lives. I think pbrain was a recurring theme for one of the ocean devs, iirc it was a cheat for another game, and disassembling (platoon?) the...

Re: The increase in pollen.

I had a worsening grass pollen allergy since I was about 15 (nearly 20 years). By chance, last time I moved house, I changed doctors and the new one referred me to a research program - I think it's called allergen immunotherapy in english (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allergen_immunotherapy) The ide...
