C64 and 8 bit ads

Hi,

I've been adding some game adverts from magazines, mostly ZZAP64. You can find them on the internet Archive here https://archive.org/details/ace_20200908

There are 41 high resolution scans and I'll hopefully be adding more in the coming days/weeks :D

Re: FAVOURITE TOTAL WAR GAME?

For me it's Rome Total War II. For nearly two years after buying it I couldn't play it to its potential. My poor old FX 8350 and GTX970 just weren't up top the task of the epic battles I wanted. About 18 months ago I put together a new PC with an 8th gen i7 and an RTX 2080. Now I can enage in epic b...

A lightgun that works on modern TVs!

Hi guys,

I've just seen the 'Sinden Lightgun' that works on modern TV's and monitors on Linus Tech Tips.

Re: Android controller

If you want to plug a controller into an S8 you'll need a USB C to USB A OTG adaptor. I've used one with my own S8 and my Galaxy Tab S4. For Mega Drive type games I've found the Retro-Bit Official SEGA Mega Drive USB Controller works great. It even worked fine on The Mega Drive Classics Collection o...

Need help with mouse support in Retropie

I've got a Raspberry Pi4 - 4GB model - and I've got the beta version of RetroPie installed. I've got most games to work fine with controllers, but I can't get my head around getting games to work with a mouse for shooting games like Operation Wolf on Mame or games like Wild Gunman on the NES emulato...

Re: Advice on what Pi to buy

You could try disabling xcompmgr, as that seems to fix tearing issues in a lot of cases. That worked perfectly. Not only is the tearing gone, but the games are also much smoother. 👍 Now I've got one last BIG ISSUE. Save and load states. I can't get it to work at all. It's supposed to be: Select + R...

Re: Advice on what Pi to buy

RE: screen tearing: In the RetroArch config file (/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg), ensure that video_vsync = true The problem is it's already set to = true. Any ideas? Raspbian seems to have a sync issue anyway in the desktop. Since Retropie for Pi4 is in beta, it has to run on top of Rasb...

Re: Advice on what Pi to buy

I got my Pi4 yesterday, installing into the Flirc case was a sinch and I installed Retropie using a video from YouTuber 'ETA Prime'. It's working, but I've got some questions: Retropie is working and the games I've added are working. However, there seems to be some screen tearing going on. Is it pos...

Re: Advice on what Pie to buy

I've ordered a Pi4 4GB, the Flirc case, 64GB micro Card, micro HDMI cable and official power supply from The Pi Hut.

Excited! 😊

Re: Advice on what Pie to buy

That Flirc case looks really nice too. I think I'll go for that one then. That ICE tower looks like a mini version the Heatsink-fan I've got sitting inside my gaming PC that I built just over a year ago lol I'm also interested in some Amiga Emulation too. Is NOOBS what I need to run more than one OS...

Advice on what Pi to buy

Hey guys! Being a retro gamer as I am, I'm really interested now in trying out a Rasberry Pi as an emulation device I can just plug into my 42" TV. I've looked at the Pi 4 and I'm not sure what's best to get. I understand that the newest hardware gets pretty hot, does it really need a fan? Won't the...

Re: TheC64!

I got multi disks to work, you do it via the 'classic mode'. Swapping discs is easy bring up the menu button, access the flash drive and swap disks.

I've still had to make CJM files to turn on true drive emulation to get some games to load. Platoon was one of those games.

Re: TheC64!

The '8-bit Guy' has a review on his channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxx2F4ffmeE I'm impressed with mine, I never owned the Mini so a full size model was a no brainer for me. As well as opening it up, he also tests the latency using a program he wrote on a real Commodore 64 on TheC64, which r...
