Re: Where can I play the classic game Elite?

There were versions of Elite on most formats throughout the 80's (even the NES!). I'm pretty sure the original game is free on the Frontier Developments website and also a link to a browser version. F Dev are still going and still headed by David Braben who co-wrote the original game. The latest ver...

Re: When was the NES released in the UK and the rest of Europe?

The NES was hardly advertised in the UK. The whole industry crash in 83 and its resurrection with the NES in 85 more or less passed the UK industry by entirely as it was primarily focused on home micro's like the Spectrum and C64 (some of us also had Amstrad CPC's...shhhh). So the industry in the ea...

Re: cost and lack of freebies for existing Subscribers

Simple economics. No print magazine is going to shoulder the cost of automatically rewarding all of its subscribers with some kind of freebie when the vast majority are content to just continue their sub, I can't think of a single economic reason why this would make sense, its first and foremost a b...

How does one do that though? You obviously don't want to be seen to do it in public, and buying one to do it at home leaves tracks more embarrassing than my search history. Even if you did go down the buying route, you're then stuck with an Amsturd in your house. You need to 'own' it with an Amstra...

Re: PlayStation 3 - Retro or not?

I'm not entirely sure 'Retro' is really a measurement of time, with games its more of a generational thing. The PS3 still plays host to modern games in the same style as the current gen. There's no element of nostalgia or change yet.

That shed puts mine to shame.
Looks absolutely fantastic. And massive!!!
600 Square feet. Great in the summer for BBQ's and parties. I've finally got it back to myself as both kids have flown the nest now. When they were at school it was like running a youth club most weekends.

Super Bomberman or any in the series. Still probably the most fun you can have as a group on one screen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade is pretty good with 3 or 4 players too.

I did something very similar a few years ago. Lot cheaper than an extension. https://i.ibb.co/2hL4PK7/gr3.png https://i.ibb.co/kD44zRZ/gr4.png https://i.ibb.co/h9hdGYy/gr5.png https://i.ibb.co/QnjpP0F/gr6.png https://i.ibb.co/wscfZn1/gr1.png https://i.ibb.co/gRy7bv6/gr2.png

Re: What are you currently playing?

Been playing Elite Dangerous for a couple of years on the Xbox One. Recently got myself a new PC so picked it up in the Steam sale and invested in an Oculus Rift and a Hotas.
Oh.
My.
God.
Genuinely transcends the term 'game', its an experience like nothing I've ever played.

Re: Magazine Quality - Latest issue

In my opinion they should just go back to using the same retail cover for subs issues. The ‘special’ sub covers aren’t great. I cancelled my sub after the best part of 10 years last month and have just gone back to getting the retail edition. I understand for many the editorial content is the only i...

I've not got mine yet either, which is annoying as I want to to see how my Raiden feature turned out!
Not received mine yet either. I’ve cancelled my sub but afaik should still receive mags until it lapses in October.

Nintendo shut down Emuparadise.

Saw this reported on Sky News. Turns out its true, it appears Nintendo are going after all portals offering any of its IP for download.

Re: Subscriber Covers

Yep, the covers are just going from bad to worse. Who on earth thought this was a good idea? Its like they’re being designed by the work experience lad.

Has anyone got a direct link, email address or phone number I can use to cancel my sub please?

Back to Smiths from next month.
