Re: Great games without sound
Any roguelike. I recommend Angband, personally. Great game without sound OR graphics.

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week
Just beat Shinobi III, a game I've played off-and-on for about six years.
Rather happy about that. I may have taken my sweet time, but I got there in the end.

Mass Effect (plus all DLC).
Dash of Destruction.
That is all.
I will do Mass Effect 2 at some point but I'm "saving" my next playthrough for a while.

Re: Best Boss Battles Ever!
Morgoth in Angband. The whole game is basically about training your character to stand a chance against this sucker. A single game can take weeks and if you die you lose everything. Seriously heart-in-mouth-tense fight as well as he takes forever to kill and does massive damage with magic or big fri...

Re: Disappointing final bosses?
Aye Seth is a bastitch all right. I'm no expert but can often get all the way to him on one credit (not on highest difficulty) only to get whooped over and over and over until I finally luck out. So annoying. It's been a while since I've mentioned Magruder in GUN - hate that guy! Not only is he very...

Re: Disappointing final bosses?
Er, there IS a final boss in Mass Effect.
Maybe it was just so easy you never noticed.

Re: A memory of an old lcd handheld
It was ace, wasn't it? I played it enough as a nipper that I got really good and could basically score as many points as I felt like. I remember one caravanning holiday when that game kept me sane (and helped fight off car sickness) on the long drive south. Dunno if it's the game Mire Mare was askin...

Green Beret.
When I was a kid it seemed cool and incredibly violent, now it seems twee and incredibly silly.
I still love it though.
I'm sure nobody else will agree with me and I don't care.

Re: Micro Men
Loved this. Unfortunately I forgot to record it for posterity, but it's being repeated in a day or two so I'll get it then. Judging by an article from Sinclair User it seems the punch-up in the Baron of Beef was actually toned down in Micro Men. You can read about it here: http://www.sincuser.f9.co....

Re: Underrated Xbox games
Gladius was a multiformat release but I played it on Xbox and it's one of my favourite games of all time.
Imagine a free-roaming version of Shining Force crossed with a sports management sim, with a smidge of PGA Tour Golf. Genius.
Unfortunately it didn't get very good reviews and failed to sell.
