Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 127

Agree - this month's cover is awesome. What did you all think of my Commander Keen piece, old PC games players? As always there is much more story to tell than can fit in x amount of pages (as the arcade story feedback shows) but I was happy working on this, and John Romero and Tom Hall were really ...

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 121 Official feedback

Craig's guide to RPGs was nicely done, Thanks man. I was really interested in the RPG article, but felt it was too short, it touched on loads but covered too little in depth. Would love to have seen a few more pages here, the likes of Y's, shining force, Buck Rogers etc got no proper coverage at al...

Re: From the forum issue 118 Favourite NES game

Ducktales was one of the best! But the ultimate was Super Mario Bros 3, for sure - the pirated cart we had on sale in South Africa allowed you to cheat to get the whistle and access any world any time!

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 114 Feedback

As for your opinion remark, you're missing the point that stating a game has had great influence is not a matter of opinion ;) It either had or it hadn't. Hey, I'm very very late to this party but I have not been on the forums in ages. I read through your feedback and as the author of the piece, I ...

Re: From the forum question Issue 63

I'd say my favourite handheld is the GP2X. Such a great little machine, and basically a retro gamer's dream handheld. I'm looking forward to the Pandora, though - when that comes out, nothing else is going to come close.

Re: The Emulation Megathread

OK, I've made some significant edits to the OP and added in some emulators for Mac, Linux and PSP. Will gladly add in any more that you guys suggest. On the other hand, if interest in this thread proves to be next to nothing and everyone gets their emu info elsewhere, I'll just let this die a slow u...

Re: Calling all collectors and non collectors...

I think one of the major differences between the value of current downloads vs. old collectible originals is the box contents... a lot of older games required the manual or map or technical readouts or whatever, as the game's interface was often too limited to have all of this information available ...

Re: What are you currently playing?

I'm currently going through Fallout 3 for the second time. When this is done, I plan to play Throne of Bhaal (the expansion for Baldur's Gate 2) as I have never tried this before - crazy for someone who loves the Infinity Engine games so much. My frustration was that my character from the end of BG2...

Re: Official feedback for ISSUE 61

WHSmith is 10 miles from myhouse and I've been in four times now. That's 80 miles. Will be 100 tomorrow! Better be there. Not a wasted journey as I find other things to do....like cry in the park because RG isn't here yet! I'd really just subscribe if I were you - I recently took out another ...

Re: What's the best emulator for.........

Just letting you guys know that I started my own thread here before I saw this one. Anyway, I went through this thread and added a whole lot to my OP, so basically the new one has a lot of the info from this thread in the first post. I've got a lot of Windows and Mac stuff out the way but wouldn't m...

Re: The Emulation Megathread

Quick suggestion: amend your 'top spot to get games' to 'top spot to find out about games'. Lemon64 is the obvious port of call for C64 stuff, and although there are are links to GameBase, you're not directly going "Hey, guys! Go to the naughty internet". And then I won't have to remove the thread,...

Re: The Emulation Megathread

Noted, but hopefully people will list only stuff that is legal or in the public domain. If it gets a little grey as to whether something is legal or not, I will just remove all mention of sites listing games. I'm going to have a look at Fuse and Spin now, thanks.

The Emulation Megathread

I felt that this was as good a place as any to collect in one place a list of what the Retro Gamer forum regulars believe to be the best emulators for various systems. My motivation is basically to find a good emulator for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Atari ST without having to wade through all...
