Re: Chess

Sadly I have not played Chess against a live opponent in a while now, instead playing versions on both my PS3 and Tablet. Although nowhere near Grand Master quality, I am okay at the game and was in the Chess Club while at School many years ago. One of the best games I ever played was while on holid...

Re: C64 and 8 bit ads

Thank you for the nostalgia.

Seeing the original artwork for the likes of Ace Of Aces, Ultima V and Gauntlet II once again certainly was a fond trip down memory lane!

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

I have just gained all the Achievements for a PC game I purchased last month in the "Steam" sale called Lines Infinite. This was gained by completing all hundred pre-set levels. I cannot claim to have completed the game as such, however, as it is now allowing me to play endless, random levels - not ...

Favourite Football Management simulation?

The football management simulation has always been a favourite with fans ever since Kevin Toms pioneered the mega-selling original. However, what is everyone's favourite from all those created over the years? Mine are undoubtedly Player Manager 2 on the Amiga 500 and, for the first PC I owned, LMA M...

Re: Free stuff in cereals and crisps...

I remember collecting the Star Wars Tazos in packets of Walkers crisps during the late 1990's, when the original series of films was given a makeover. There was also cardboard folder to put them in. Often people would start picking up several packets of crisps and feel them to see if there was a Taz...

Re: Fighting Fantasy

My Brother has all the first editions of almost the entire Fighting Fantasy collection, all still in great condition. We were looking at them just the other day and I agree that the artwork was fantastic. The series was great for making reading interesting to children once again, although admittedly...

Re: 2019/2020 Football season chat

I would like to belatedly congratulate Liverpool for their runaway success in the Premier League. Certainly worthy winners! Not so, perhaps, Leeds United in the Championship. Friends of mine now refer to them merely as the Ch(eat)ampions. To be caught spying on rival training sessions earlier on in ...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I have just seen Deadpool 2 on Blu-ray which I borrowed from my brother and enjoyed it even more than the first film, plus have started to watch the first series of Gotham. I know I am behind the times, but superhero franchises have not really appealed to me much in the past. I can take them or leav...

Re: FAVOURITE TOTAL WAR GAME?

It is nice how so many people are passionate about different titles in the long-running franchise! As regards the excellent television series Time Commanders, I was an avid fan right from the beginning. It proved to be a nice touch of history lesson and computer game rolled into one which, no doubt,...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I have started watching Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, a film which has been on my Blu-Ray shelf for a while now waiting to be viewed.

Last week I saw Dawn... and recently purchased War... as Morrisons was selling it at a very reasonable price.

FAVOURITE TOTAL WAR GAME?

With a long history of Total War games behind them, the Creative Assembly has produced some of the best strategy games on the market, spanning numerous conflicts and even the fantasy genre. What is everyone's favourite of the franchise? Mine is undoubtedly NAPOLEON which, although a decade old now, ...

Re: What are you currently playing?

This week I have returned to some of my older PS3 games - namely LEGENDS OF WAR and UNDER SIEGE - to try and collect the few remaining trophies I still have not obtained for them. Most of the trophies were awarded several years ago and I am enjoying the nostalgia of replaying these games again!

Re: Invaders V Galaxians V Gorf?.

During the late 1970's at my local Asda store, there were a couple of arcade machines - Galaxian and Space Invaders - near the doorway. These were the first games I ever played. My brother became very good at Space Invaders but Galaxian was by far my favourite. We spent hours on these game until one...

Re: Best version of Battle Chess or even chess game in general?

I have always wanted a historical themed chess game, desirably the Battle Of Waterloo, with pewter pieces representing the leaders and soldiers. Of course, such a set would be very expensive!

Re: RIP <Insert celebrity>

RIP Max Von Sydow, one of the greatest Swedish actors of all time.

Horror fans will remember him from the likes of The Seventh Seal, The Exorcist and Needful Things.

For Sci-fi fans, there was Minority Report, Judge Dredd and Flash Gordon.
