Re: C64 Vs Spectrum - Let's end the debate

The Spectrum also canes the C64 for text adventures Seriously? You're telling me that the Spectrum can best the greatest adventures from Infocom, Level 9 and Magnetic Scrolls that came out on the C64? Quantity, maybe. Quality, no way. Yes, I know some of them came out on the Speccy as well, from Le...

Re: C64 Vs Spectrum - Let's end the debate

Anywho, which of the 2 formats (Speccy or C64 ) had the better range of strategic games, simulators and Role Playing Games ?. C64 always seemed well supported by likes of S.S.I, Microprose, E.A etc. Could the Speccy match or better it in any or indeed all of the above?. Feel free to do an exhaustiv...

Re: C64 Vs Spectrum - Let's end the debate

I've gone with the Spectrum. I probably play more games on the C64 these days but the speccy was my main machine back in the day and I do feel it has a much stronger roster of games. With the C64 once you get past the better quality shooters there's not a lot there to match the Spectrum's impressive...

Re: Wheres the spark gone?

Oh, I certainly don't think that you could put out TOAS in it's raw form today as anything other than a low-budget indie title. I'm meaning more in terms of where are the modern versions of TOAS or Earthworm Jim? The games with quirkiness and character and offbeat ideas, but still looking modern an...

Xbox Live Indie Games is the place to start.

Anybody looking for something a little different should start with Garden Gnome Carnage and Fish Squid Time Machine.

Both excellent. Especially Garden Gnome Carnage.

Re: Wheres the spark gone?

Well, "wacky" games are still being made on all platforms tbh. Whether you see them or not depends on how blinkered your view of gaming as a whole is and how often you look away from the highstreet shop shelves. I think the issue is not so much 'why aren't these kind of games being made any more?' ...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Around the 60 hr mark on Skyrim and only just starting to dabble with magic. Has anyone finished the main storyline on this yet, and do they know if after it's done, you can return and keep going through the side quests? Guess i could always save it pre-mission incase I can't return. After completi...

Re: Why Reviews no longer matter.

Wii games have bugs the same as any other platform. I would say Nintendo at least have a more in-depth approach to QA than most though. They always have. But then the Wii doesn't feature any games that are as complicated as Skyrim. But then I'd also say that the ability to patch a game after release...

Re: Favorite Games You Love, With serious WTF Moments!

Not a game I'd say I absolutely love but Bioshock's "would you kindly?" moment was genuine WTF for me. In a good way.

EDIT: this thread should be full of people who've played Deadly Premonition to a finish btw.

Re: Just been given an xbox360

Create a profile. Try to find a gamertag that hasn't been already taken. Buy points cards, and don't put your credit card on the system. Use XBLA to download some titles there if you want more arcade stuff, before diving into the bargain bins. Some of the XBLA stuff is actually in the bargain bins ...

Re: Help me to identify an old PC game

But I remember a central hub "character select" screen. There were various different characters to choose from, and they each represented a different element. Fire, water, crystal, earth - the usual. They stood underneath an archway forged from their respective element - each facing, like I say, a ...
