Re: Subscriber Covers

There are very precious few photos of Ted Dabney online unfortunately (which is indicative in iteself), so you work with what you can find! I admit the negative space on the subscriber issues #181 looks a little odd (which is not necessarily a bad thing) but I do really like it on #182. I als...

Re: Subscriber Covers

Personally I loved the subscriber cover to #182 and I quite like the negative space to the right of the logo - it makes that particular cover look more like a design document. Admittedly I'm not overly keen on the previous couple of subscription covers and just using the same Street Fighter assets f...

Re: Ted Dabney

Very sad news about one of the genuine pioneers of home video games, whose invaluable contributions some were only too happy to never acknowledge. As Future PLC owns Edge as well as Retro Gamer, perhaps they could reprint his famous interview from Edge 200 to help set the record straight. It seems t...

Retro Gamer issue 182

https://s22.postimg.cc/h1ldzyd8x/RG_SUB_182.jpg I just wanted to doff my proverbial hat to the creator (Sam or Warren?) of the subscriber cover to issue 182, it’s absolutely stunning in my opinion (and I’m not particularly a Mega Drive fan) and was a genuine thrill to open – so personally I think t...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 180

There were indeed four variant Pokemon covers for issue #135. The Pickachu cover was exclusive to subscribers (the only previous subscriber variant) while the other three were issued at retail in equal quantities. https://s18.postimg.cc/5actlvkh5/rg_135.jpg https://s18.postimg.cc/482n3beih/rg_135.2....

Re: A Question for Subscribers (magazines now sent out damaged?)

Just to say that my subscription issues of Retro Gamer 175 & 176 both arrived in superb condition, so may thanks to 'Big Manager Man' and all concerned for keeping things back on track and a belated Happy New Year to you all.

Now I have a Retro Gamer calendar to go with my Crash 2018 one.

Re: A Question for Subscribers (magazines now sent out damaged?)

Many thanks to Mark and the presence of 'BMM' for solving this one. :D I'll let you know how subsequent issues arrive, but I doubt the problem was ever the plastic ties bundling them together. With the 2 inch diagonal score marks in pretty much the same place on each cover, I've always pictured a me...

Re: A Question for Subscribers (magazines now sent out damaged?)

Just to say that my subscription issue of Retro Gamer #174 arrived in perfect condition! The first time in five issues, so it was a very nice and welcome surprise. :D I know Darran said Future were looking into it, so if (as seems to be the case with me at least) they've stopped sending out knowingl...

Re: Subscriber since 2012, really close to cancel it

Hi Mark, Many thanks for both looking into this for us and also for making us aware that people at Future are taking this seriously and looking into possible solutions. As I'm sure you're aware, communication can be key when such problems occur and as long as people feel they're being listened to an...

Re: Subscriber since 2012, really close to cancel it

I will say that Darren and those who contribute to Retro Gamer are not 'partners in crime' and this does not reflect on them in any way at all, it reflects on Future Publishing. When I raised the issue of damaged subscription issues on this forum, I discovered I wasn't the only one and (completely u...

Re: Subscriber since 2012, really close to cancel it

Unfortunately I can sympathise. I've been a subscriber for three years without any problems until relatively recently, but certainly for the last four months or so I've been receiving damaged issues here in the U.K. (but at least I receive them). When I offer to return them for a replacement, some o...

Re: Damaged Issues

Jamie Thompson, Hertfordshire My last three issues (171,172,173) all displayed the same 2 inch 45% scoring mark on the front cover on the right hand side. Photos can be seen on my thread: 'A Question for Subscribers (magazines now sent out damaged?)' I offered to return them for a 'new copy', but wa...

Re: A Question for Subscribers (magazines now sent out damaged?)

Firstly, thank you very much to everyone for your replies and whilst on the one hand I’m glad I’m not the only one, I’m sorry to hear that other subscribers are receiving copies which were damaged at the production plant too. At least we can establish this is an external problem which can (hopefully...

A Question for Subscribers (magazines now sent out damaged?)

Hi I’m a long time reader and huge fan of Retro Gamer magazine since it’s inception and have been a subscriber for the last three years without any problems. However, the last four issues I’ve been sent (170-174) have all seemed like possible rejects from the production plant. I was wondering if it ...
