Re: Amiga musicians/C64 musicians

The "lowest common denominator" on Amiga was insanely high, it's almost hard to find bad sounding games compared to other contemporary platforms. Some of my fave composers: Chris Hülsbeck/Huelsbeck Rock 'n Roll (AMI), R-Type (AMI, different) Turrican II (AMI, 1991), Super Turrican (SNES, 1993), Tu...

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

Thanks. Well it sounds like you and I are mostly on the same page then? I just think there's a point resolution-wise (and not upscaled low-res) where it's no longer pixel art, even if I can't say exactly when just going by the dimensions as it's also about the techniques used. Higher res art tends t...

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

^Then you're gonna have to explain further. What you've said is that any graphics made up of pixels is pixel art, which is what the first point addresses. By that definition there is very little "pixel art" on the Amiga, as the vast majority of its games used retouched digitized graphics, gradiant f...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Started up Outcast and had to look up how to save, heh. Seems like a pretty ambitious game though.

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

No, you're not. See the first point, that's what you're saying. And I said it's technically right but there's more to it seen as a craft or art form.

Thanks for having a look, merman!

Updated it with info on Tron Bonne (PS1). More of a MV-lite.

Explains it a bit more in-depth. Although I think the last point goes too far.

Not if you ask people who draw or prefer (retro) pixel art. But you are technically correct.

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

Well ok, sure. But pixel art to me is when it's easy to make out each individual pixel without even trying and when changing any single one for a sprite can make a noticeable difference.

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

I don't think it hit that limit regarding pixel art, that would be Dreamcast.

Yeah it also had two of the first 3D platformers of sorts in Simulcra and Alpha Waves/Continuum.

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

What have you played on it? Seems like not much if you go to basically an Asteroids clone as the most memorable game.

To borrow the thread a bit, why do Amiga fans not use sites like Gamefaqs? There are like no user stats or reviews for Amiga games on there.

That might've been Enduro Racer on the SMS, or something early-ish on MD/GEN like Sonic 1, Quackshot, Batman or Alex Kidd itEC.

Quick Reference Guide to Retro Metroidvania/Platform Adventure Games

https://platformadventure.weebly.com/ Inspired by Jeremy Parish's site and YT series in early 2019, I started to document and create a resource for the earlier history of one of my fave genres. Each game entry lists defining features relating to the genre and links to more info in the form of playth...

Re: What are you currently playing?

I'm focusing on the PC Engine for a bit. Trying out Neutopia, and I just beat the first dungeon. Pretty solid, even if it is pretty much a Zelda 1 clone.

Re: What 20 games would you have picked for the SNES Mini?

Would just open it up to VC and/or carts, a 21 games limit is ridiculous nowadays.
