Re: Castlevania

Bloodlines is roughly on par with Rondo of Blood in terms of gameplay. SCIV is the best after those, though it plays a bit different in that you can whip in eight directions as well ass swing it around more freely, plus you can control your jumps in mid-air. This makes some parts, especially early o...

Let me know if there's any other system you'd like to see covered in the same way:

Games of the Year 1984-1999 (Tier List Templates)

This ended up fairly popular on a couple of other forums I visit so I figured I might as well post them here as well. https://tierlists.com/create/top-games-1984 https://tierlists.com/create/top-games-1985 https://tierlists.com/create/top-games-1986 https://tierlists.com/create/top-games-1987 https:...

Re: Amiga musicians/C64 musicians

The "lowest common denominator" on Amiga was insanely high, it's almost hard to find bad sounding games compared to other contemporary platforms. Some of my fave composers: Chris Hülsbeck/Huelsbeck Rock 'n Roll (AMI), R-Type (AMI, different) Turrican II (AMI, 1991), Super Turrican (SNES, 1993), Tu...

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

Thanks. Well it sounds like you and I are mostly on the same page then? I just think there's a point resolution-wise (and not upscaled low-res) where it's no longer pixel art, even if I can't say exactly when just going by the dimensions as it's also about the techniques used. Higher res art tends t...

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

^Then you're gonna have to explain further. What you've said is that any graphics made up of pixels is pixel art, which is what the first point addresses. By that definition there is very little "pixel art" on the Amiga, as the vast majority of its games used retouched digitized graphics, gradiant f...

Started up Outcast and had to look up how to save, heh. Seems like a pretty ambitious game though.

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

No, you're not. See the first point, that's what you're saying. And I said it's technically right but there's more to it seen as a craft or art form.

Explains it a bit more in-depth. Although I think the last point goes too far.

Not if you ask people who draw or prefer (retro) pixel art. But you are technically correct.

Re: Why are there so many Amiga fans on this forum?

Well ok, sure. But pixel art to me is when it's easy to make out each individual pixel without even trying and when changing any single one for a sprite can make a noticeable difference.
