Re: Quick Reference Guide to Retro Metroidvania/Platform Adventure Games

Latest update:
-Info and mini-reviews for Ratchet & Clank (PS2) and Spider-Man 2 (PS2, 2004)

SM2 only barely qualifies here, admittedly.

Rank your fave retro Action Adventure & ARPG games here (tier list templates)

https://tierlists.com/search?q=top+aa+%26+arpg 1986-1999 for now. Re: Action Adventure & ARPG genre history (70s-90s quick reference guide)

Latest update:
I added info and a mini review for Xak 1 (SNES), and some subcategories for basically every entry so far.

Next up will probably be Silver.

Looks like there's not much interest in this one compared to the MV site, so thoughts on what I can improve would be appreciated.

Re: What's the most iconic retro game that's actually rubbish?

Agreed on Mario 64 and I also don't really like the early TR and RE games much anymore even though I used to. Such clunky games.

GA has one of the best OSTs of that era. EWJ is still better than most of the games I listed. But it is rough around ...

If you were to divide these genres into generations/eras by landmark games...

...instead of console generations, how would you do it? ARPG Action Adventure RPG Metroidvania/Platform Adventure Adventure Go as far back as you can and add other genres if you want. For example: Adventure Gen 1 - Zork Gen 2 - King's Quest, Deja Vu Gen 3 - Myst, Journeyman Project Gen 4 - Grim Fand...

Re: Action Adventure & ARPG genre history (70s-90s quick reference guide)

Alright, finished some major updates for the 1986-1990 top down & iso pages (aka 1st gen): https://worldsunraveled.weebly.com/td--iso-1986-1st-gen.html Let's see if someone here can help me get rid of some of the question marks regarding stuff like save and map features for some of these. Otherwise ...

Interesting, sort of like a save state feature for any game/app.
