Re: Loads of free Amstrad CPC stuff in Newcastle, NSW, Australia

You're not still jealous of how much better the CPC is than your platform of choice, surely?

Loads of free Amstrad CPC stuff in Newcastle, NSW, Australia

Someone's emailed me to say: // I am moving countries and have a heap of Amstrad stuff that needs a new home. Lots of cpc discs, Amstrad Action cover tapes from 1 through 52. One cpc 6128 with abba switch installed and a 3.5 inch floppy drive with side select installed. 3inch drive needs a new belt....

Re: Retro Gamer Now On IPhone

It's a nice app and works well for me. It failed to download the full issue when I bought it yesterday though, so I'm hoping the customer service behind it is good...

Re: Cassette 50

I quite liked Cassette 50 - about a third to half of it was good stuff. Even if you only counted the good games, it was only 62p per game and you got a cool free watch too. Nothing stunningly original on it, but there were some good versions of some classic games. I remember playing a truck driving ...

No offence intended, but I'm really not interested in what makes the writers or forum members tick. A page given over to getting to know the writers would be better spent if given over to getting to know some games or industry legends. There were loads of typing errors in this issue, by the way. It'...

> So are you not interested in new games in the retro style then? I'm interested, but probably not enough to buy a magazine for that. I have a Playstation 2 I only ever use for parties and a Nintendo DS I use a lot. I get my Nintendo news online. > How about new games for old systems? Yes, that's in...

I'm only really interested in the 8-bit era and arcade stuff. I can see a case for 16-bits being retro, but I'm not particularly intrested in Playstations and other later consoles. I thought about cancelling my sub a couple of months back because it was all getting too modern for me, but it seems to...

Does nobody know the answer to this?

Re: Amstrad CPC rarity in Retro Gamer. I said this when the guide first came out, as did several others. No idea why the rarity ratings persist in being so wrong. The 664 is damn rare - it was only in production for about six months before being superseded. One went for about £80 last month on ebay...

Elite Beat Agents is great - it's a rhythm game using the stylus and with pop songs you'll know. Electroplankton is more of a toy than a game, but it's one reason I bought a DS. Animal Crossing has a lot of longevity and is good fun. Brain Training is good, but runs out of steam after a while. Phoen...

I used to write Amstrad games. Got some in Amstrad Computer User and Amstrad Action as type-in listings. They're all online here now: http://www.sean.co.uk/books/amstrad/index.shtm I also wrote some retro-style Javascript games a few years back, here: http://www.sean.co.uk/a/javascriptgames/index.sh...

Get Dexter on the Amstrad - the pinaccle of isometric gaming Co-vote for Split Personalities. Great game, although I played it on the CPC not the Speccy. Any platform would be fine. Nice story there too, about them having to pull it under the name 'Splitting Images'. Berzerk - the arcade machine. Di...

I think there's another risk with these ads as well, that genuine retro game advertisers won't want to advertise any more. I know if I'd bought an ad in Retro Gamer and it appeared alongside some of the ads in the last issue, I wouldn't buy another ad. It's bad for business reputation, and this foru...

Can't help noticing we've been round this discussion often enough before. Surprised it hasn't been locked for that reason.
