Re: The Star Wars thread

Disney have been pulling their content from various providers over the last couple of years in preparation for launching their service, so I doubt it's that. It may just be a phased rollout to iron out any issues and avoid overload. Can you imagine trying to deal with a global rollout of a subscript...

Re: The Star Wars thread

Same here. Been waiting patiently to subscribe to Disney+ but they won't take my money, so I have to resort to piracy.

Not watched Mandalorian yet, but grabbed it last night for the weekend.

Re: Samurais & Ninjas

On a more modern gaming note (though it could easily have been an 8 bit game), there's One Strike on the Switch. Cheap as chips, often on sale.

Re: The history of time killers – arcade documentary

It's not even close to being the first weapons based arcade fighting game.

There's an old vector game, I forget the name, with a top down view of two knights(?) that sword fight. That's the earliest I remember offhand.

Re: Retro Gaming Spotlight: Asteroids

Mine Storm on the Vectrex is an excellent variation on it, starting with standard asteroids patterns then adding things like homing mines. Shame the built in game is bugged, but the sequel patches that if you can get it (or have a flash cart).

Re: Samurais & Ninjas

How about Second Samurai? I played on ST, but it's on various platforms. And the original First Samurai (named that as a joke because some of the team had previously worked on The Last Ninja...) Ha, First Samurai is the game I was thinking of! For some reason I had it in my head the first game was ...

Re: Sound of Gaming - Radio 3

I'm on episode 2 now. It's not bad, but I'd like to hear more from some of the longer standing people in the business. When you have the likes of Rob Hubbard who've gone from the very beginnings through to current music, it offers a bit more on the history. Good to hear at least some of the more lim...

Re: Sound of Gaming - Radio 3

No, not seen this, thanks for bringing it up.

Do they go right back to the beginning with chiptunes, or is it just since the intro of CD soundtracks and fully scored games?

Re: Best DS in 2019?

Personally I'd go DS Lite because you can still play original GameBoy, GBC and GBA games. The DSi were nice but unless you want the bigger screens of the XL (I had one, but wasn't overly enamoured with it). Only GBA games, mind. The older, bigger carts don't fit. If you are hardcore about playing a...

Re: From The Forum Issue 201

I'm going to opt for Reaxion on the GBA. Given your connections, it shouldn't be too hard to turn up some more detailed info on this one:

Re: Best DS in 2019?

For less bulk, DS Lite is the way to go. Retains clamshell design to protect the screens and is a nice size to carry about if you don't want the bigger screens of the XL. Screen is still bright and sharp compared to modern systems. Doesn't need modding, just need a flash cart to run homebrew or anyt...
