Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

It all comes down to price, in the end people will buy it if its cheap enough even if they dont really want one I genuinely think it's going to be a 50:50. Price and battery are going to be equal factors for me. If it doesn't hold up to 5 hrs use, I think that'll hinder sales as much as the price. ...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Bought the not-very-good-but-increasingly-hard-to-find Flower, Sun and Rain on the DS from Cash Converters Contact on the DS for a couple of quid on eBay Metroid Prime Hunters Demo (literally so I can put the demo cart from the OG DS VIP set into something before I lose it) MGS: V on the Xbone - it'...

A recent discovery is "This Does Not Compute"

Talks in depth about retro gaming - often on a deeper, more technical level - and does fixes, reviews and lots on handhelds.

Re: Charity Shops

Just on charity shops generally, they're definitely wising up to Retro gaming and the value in it. BHF seemingly have an instruction to send anything retro game-related to head office to be put on eBay and loads of the other charities seem to be pricing high and handsome and then putting on eBay. Wh...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Have recently discovered that a load of my stuff went missing during my house move, so I'm replacing stuff as it comes up cheap(ish) on eBay. So this week I've bought a refurbed SNES unit only from a bloke in Croatia (what could possibly go wrong...), a new PSU for my NES/SNES, Double Dragon 3 & Bur...

Re: Games Wanted Mega Thread

If anyone has NES/SNES spares for sale, then I'm all ears. Turns out I have lost at least one massive box of retro rarities (clothes also missing, but who cares...) during my recent house move. Haven't got a clue where it went, I can only think that one of my friends has left the box in a stupid pla...

Re: Charity Shops

Time crisis 3 ps2 £1.50 - it's in absolutely mint condition, with manual and other inserts. Pokemon black 2 £3.00. In a pokemon white ds box without instructions. Am sure I have a loose white cart somewhere. A good find as I've noticed the Main Pokemon games have gone up in price since Go's success...

Re: Charity Shops

I've started telling my local shops that they're pricing stuff wrongly. We have a unknown charity called Octavia Foundation here in my neck of the woods and some of the prices they charge are absolutely mental. Can't knock the Octavia Foundation as when they were selling off sealed PS2 Games 7 for ...

Re: Yoshis Island - WOW!

You'd think it'd be easy enough to reverse engineer something for the emulation so they could replace the Argonaut code with their own. It was used in quite a few games, so they have a spread of sales to recoup the costs once they implement it. The Super FX chip was only used in eight games and the...

Re: Yoshis Island - WOW!

I always thought the reason FX chip games rarely make it to the VC was the complexity of emulating it properly? I had previously assumed that as well, but Super FX emulation has been nailed for quite some time now. The Wii is more than capable as well, since Snes9x GX emulates all the main SFX game...

Re: Yoshis Island - WOW!

This is new information to me... was the Super FX chip a third party thing? I believe it was made by, or licensed to, British company Argonaut Software. Hence why no Starfox or any other SNES game using the chip is on the VC. Sadly. I always thought the reason FX chip games rarely make it to the VC...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Having just invested in a PS3, 10 years after it came out (nothing like being current) I've got a lot of catching up to do. First game I've begun indulging in is Fallout New Vegas; this is mainly to see if it's worthy of the criticism it seems to get these days - thoroughly enjoying it so far, but o...

Re: Old TV shows that no one you talk to remembers.

No-one I speak to ever remembers some of the darker, more interesting kids shows, like Inhumanoids, mainly because they got cut up and shoved into Saturday morning TV. Centurions gets no love either. Dark Season is another kids show that no-one remembers despite its writer (Russell T. Davies) going...
