Re: Discuss: Spectrum vs Amstrad Gaming
Games made specifically for the Amstrad were usually fairly decent, but most games weren't ; they were usually conversions (often from the Speccy) and suffered. Badly. Scrolling was awful (unless playing in a postage stamp window) graphics often blocky and overly colourful. This is what I was going...

Re: Discuss: Spectrum vs Amstrad Gaming
To be honest I don't get these arguments. Yeah we all had fun as kids, but we're adults now, right? I had a speccy. I loved it. My mate had an Amstrad. He loved it. I admired some of the games, I always remember him playing tau ceti and marvelling at the crunching sound effects. We had a lot of fun...

Re: The Greatest Games Systems Of All Time
Indeed. But that in turn makes the list misleading as it becomes not "what was the best for gaming" but more "who here owned one". With regards to the Spectrum and Amstrad debate, i'm genuinely intrigued. Does Spectrum still have an active fanbase in 2018? Are people still writing games for the sys...

Re: The Greatest Games Systems Of All Time
Over twice as many people owned Spectrums than Amstrads, so it really shouldn't be that much of a surprise! I think the Atari 8-bit is superior to both but that didn't make the top 30, so the abilities of a system mean very little here. People voted on nostalgia, much as I expected. Indeed. But tha...

Re: Your fave FPS series
Tough. Unreal 1, Doom 2 and Half Life 2 are the best examples of the genre to me. I've recently played Quake 1 for the first time and loved every minute, plus there are the truly wonderful Jedi Knight games and Duke Nukem has always provided me with great enjoyment. I think i'll have to go with Unre...

Re: return of Age of Empires
I will always be perfectly happy with Age of Empires 2. I didn't buy AoE3 and i won't be buying AoE4! It's one of those series for me that gave me everything i wanted in one game so i have no reason to play any others. Settlers 2 is another one of these such games.

Re: PlayStation game banned
Too little too late IMO. There are WAY too many titles out there that have been doing this for years, this is just one game and it's probably not even the worst offender, the whole Anime art style has been sexualising young characters for decades.

WAY too many great games on this system. Trouble is the oddities tend not to be cheap! A mixture of odd, exclusive and awesome titles: Psychonauts We Love Katamari Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds Global Defence Force Sky Odyssey Rogue Trooper Savage Skies Transformers (2004) - Best ever Trans...

Re: Atari Flashback Classics Collections XB1/PS4
That's kinda ridiculous. £14.99 for each volume, both have around 50 games. Or shell out £15 total for Activision Anthology and Atari Anthology on PS2 and have ~130 of the best games on two discs with no installation or updates required! Also i recently played the Atari collection of these and for s...
