Re: Games that pushed hardware limits

Gran Turismo 4 on PS2

Gunstar Heroes on SEGA Mega Drive? I think judging from the slowdown that game had it was pushing the machine to its limit.

Re: Do you prefer Mario 2D or 3D games?

Call me super old school or outdated but I prefer the 2D Mario games over ANY 3D Mario game and that includes the excellent Mario 64.

Re: Jag and 3DO 20 years old this year.

I have been tempted to buy a 3DO on a few occasions but have always passed it up. I would probably only play FIFA and Need For Speed (which of course is a different version compared to Saturn, PlayStation and PC). Plus I would need to RGB mod the 3DO in order to get the best picture quality out of i...

Re: Cex now selling Super Nes stuff

CEX and Cash Converters have been selling odd bits of retro here and there for years. I was in Bath yesterday and they have an independent video game store with a significant amount of retro but it was way overpriced. £40 for an original DMG Gameboy, £60 for a loose N64 and £110 for a loose copy of...

Re: When did you find out...

I didn't know that the SEGA Saturn was coming out back in I think it was 94? I remember hearing people talking about the 32x and assumed that was the replacement for the Mega Drive. Found out years later that it was an add-on and that the Saturn was the proper full on replacement for the Mega Drive!

Re: Dave's Game Room (DGR)

This time, I go through playing PlayStation (PS1) games on PlayStation 2 (PS2) and PlayStation 3 (PS3) and toggling the options available such as Texture Filtering. See what I think and what I discover happens with Formula 1 98.....

Re: Nintendo Discontinuing Wii U from this Friday

I bought a Wii U for my daughters a few years ago at their request, fully expecting it to gather dust next to the TV. To my surprise, we have played it constantly ever since and I have really enjoyed it. The one big disappointment for me was Mario Kart 8, which graphics apart, was not a patch on th...

Re: Which 6th gen console was your fave?

The PS2 and Xbox era was all about broadband (which required an add on for Ps2!) online gaming taking off and Xbox live trounced the Ps2 in this area, yes the PS2 had a bigger library, but online gaming and Xbox won it for me. Online gaming was FANTASTIC on Xbox. with regards to the PS2 I bought th...

Re: Which 6th gen console was your fave?

This was actually quite a close run thing between the PS2, Xbox and the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast I had to overlook simply because it didn't last that long. The Xbox was all about 2 things for me... Halo 2 and Xbox Live :) The PS2 had a fantastic collection of Triple A titles that I really enjoyed. O...
