This hits the nail on the head for me, it is great to be able to put something on and just play it. No long tutorial, no complicated intro, no 15 minute cut scenes - mostly just straight into the game. For me it's because I can just put it on and play it. No updates or internet-related stuff, no sys...

It was the sound made from my Spectrum + 2 when my sister dropped it down the stairs! That sound of brittle splintering plastic still haunts me and it was over 25 years ago!

I'm aiming to finish all the Nes Megaman games. I've made a start but I'll be amazed if I finish as there isn't a lot of spare time for games at the moment!

I used to like the code wheels that came with Monkey Island one and two. Although they were very easy to reproduce - not that I ever tried of course!

I also remember struggling with the Lenslock! Didn't the Spectrum version of Elite use this?

Renegade on the Speccy (more so on 128k) - The conversion was so good it was better than the orginal arcade game!

There were two versions of Artic's World Cup Football. The first was released in the early 1980s. Later US Gold were working on a new game for the Mexico 86 world cup; they got in trouble developing the new game so purchased the rights to World Cup Football and simply added the official licence. Double Dragon on the Speccy - like others I played this to death in the arcades and was desperate for the home conversion, sadly the Spectrum conversion was just a desperate slow, ugly, uncontollable mess.
