Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

I was most disappointed in Rebel Strike. Rogue Squadron was really good on the N64 and then Rogue Leader on the Cube surpassed it in every way and was, at the time, mindblowing. Rebel Strike isn't a terrible game but so much of it just doesn't really work. The on-foot sections added nothing and were...

Re: Mega SG

As someone who has more CRTs than is sane I'd say don't rule out a 14" portable. We've become conditioned to thinking bigger is better regarding screens but a Megadrive is eminently playable on a decent 14" tube (it's how most of us played them back in the 90s in our bedrooms after all) and you can ...

Re: Mega SG

Yes, I have one, along with the 8-Bit Do wireless pad. It's a lovely, well made, machine and when I first hooked it up to my big HD TV I was amazed by how good the games looked. Having said that, I somehow find the games more difficult to play on this than on my original MD hooked up to a CRT. I'm n...

Darius. I have most of the games anyway so it will be nice to try something 'new' that wasn't released at the time - and a fast paced shooter seems like just the ticket to try the system out! After that I'll be diving into Monster World IV.

Re: TheC64!

They really need to look at the joystick. I have the mini and I like it, there are some good games on it, but the joystick is incredibly unresponsive which spoils the whole experience.

Re: Nintendo Switch Discussion

They need to apply the Official Nintendo Seal of Quality - that'll stop bad games getting on the system!

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

I love the MD, it's my favourite console. If you enjoyed Revenge of Shinobi I'd really recommend Shinobi III - Return of the Ninja Master - one of the best 16bit action games ever made IMHO. Shadow Dancer is good too. One of my personal favourites is Ranger X. Not hugely long or difficult but it's e...

Re: CRT 14" TV recommendations. Prices rising!

I have a Beovision Avant VCR 32 CRT TV which I’m trying to find a home for. Anyone interested? I’d like £35 or it as I had to buy a replacement remote. It’s a bargain for the right person though. (If you look it up online some people say it auto stretches the picture to 16:9 but you can change it ba...

Re: CRT 14" TV recommendations. Prices rising!

The trinitrons are nice but I have a couple of Phillips CRTs which are bloody lovely, so don't forsake other brands. I even have a cheap Matsui (Dixons own brand) 14" and it's fine. I used to use it all the time for lightgun games.

Re: Master System must haves?

A PAL Master System really suffers from the 50hz slow down if you ask me. Even decent games like Rastan and Lucky Dime Caper feel extremely sluggish. I don't know why it seems more noticable on the Master System than on other systems - I guess the games must have just been a bit slower to begin with...

Re: When was the NES released in the UK and the rest of Europe?

In my area (Great Yarmouth) the NES was well and truly on the radar before the Turtles pack came out. It had been on sale, with a very substantial display and demo unit (with just about every black-box game available to play, along with others such as RC Pro Am, Castlevania, Mike Tyson's Punch Out)...
