I like Kano. Is being a criminal not enough? Win inter-dimensional combat competitions too.

Tie between Cabal and New Zealand Story on the Spectrum. One felt like a fantastical voyage through a world of wonder and the other was a simple bullet-to-the-face endeavor. https://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/482939-the-new-zealand-story-zx-spectrum-screenshot-that-looks-like.png https://www.m...

Re: From The Forum 181_: Favourite Street Fighter game

Street Fighter 2: World Warrior, because it represented a colossal improvement over SF1. I also liked that the four boss characters are not available to the player, preventing their trivialization.

I was impressed by the richness of the design contrasted with how approachable the game was.

It felt somewhat like you were playing a cartoon.

Re: From The Forum issue 176 - Favourite football game

I played Match Day on the ZX Spectrum so much that I still whistle the "players entering" tune now, 25 years later.

By waiting patiently for a PAL television to be delivered over here, in Canada...

I have all other components (220v transformer, UK plug adapter, tape player), but still no suitable TV for it...

Re: From the forum issue 168 - Multiplayer scumbaggery

In 2-player PC games, I would sometimes hold down "too many keys", blocking my opponent's controls.

In secret, I like to play Pac-Land, a game that looks like it was drawn by a child.

When my friend in university let me borrow his GBA, I would play it in class and receive glares from the professors and classmates.

Re: From the forum issue 155 - Speedrunning

While interesting to witness near-perfect play, tool assisted speed running trivializes video games to a mechanical sequence of steps.

Re: From the forum issue 154 - Quake

Quake 1 was the FPS game in which I felt truly free and maneuverable.

I thought I was very good until I joined a contest in Bucharest, and lost in the first round :D

eBay makes it easy for me to spend copious amounts on Japanese consoles, which would otherwise be hard to find here, in North America.

The first video game I ever played was the largely unknown Hyperaction on the ZX Spectrum+. My entire family played it every evening.

Re: From The Forum issue 148 - SNES memories

The SNES was no less than an unattainable dream for me. All I could afford was a knock-off NES clone, and seeing SNES Street Fighter 2 in attract mode in a store is one of the reasons I now collect retro video games.
