Re: Kickstarter tracker

This is a project I backed (my first on Indiegogo): https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-crackers--3#/ It's about the crack scene on the Atari ST. And, in response to merman's concern over a backlash, I personally wouldn't blame RG for a failed KS project or any items I purchase on their recommend...

Re: Advice on what Pi to buy

Quick question, how is N64 emulation on these things? I have it running, ish, on my snes mini but it's not really great My understanding is that the main problem with N64 emulation isn't lack of computer power but an inability to accurately recreate the original hardware (much like the Atari Jaguar...

Re: Coronavirus

I'd rather we just got on with what needs to be done instead of crying hypocrite every time an MP is spotted coming out of a newsagent with a Slush Puppy and a Snickers bar.

Re: Coronavirus

Few things make people angry more than hypocrisy when they're going through difficult times. It's like the government telling us that we can't drink alcohol and then have their ministers drinking from bottles of champagne at the daily briefings. I would like to think that most people would do the ma...

Re: From the forum issue 208: Eighties pick'em

PC Engine. If only they had released it here! I'd play this any day over the Nintendo and Sega things from the 80's I like to think of the PC Engine as a 16-Bit Sega Master System. It has all the obscure arcade ports that got forgotten about with the Mega Drive and the SNES, weird Japanese shoot-em...

Re: From the forum issue 208: Eighties pick'em

Atari ST - people rave on about the Amiga but the ST is where it's at for me. Popped Outrun in the disk drive at the age of 10 and never looked back. Sega Mega Drive - there is no other console that can compete with the amount of joy this console has given me. More synonymous with the 90s than the 8...

Numeric Pad Amiga Games

I started a thread recently about the production flaws of the A600 and suggested that the dropping of the numeric keypad wasn't as great a loss as many people made it out to be and that I had happily used an A600 for years without ever coming across software that needed one. It was suggested that I ...

Re: New Game RANDOMAZER for the ATARI STe

Nice bit of work there. It's always good to see a new game that does the original hardware justice. I did find that the game kept crashing with two bombs when running under TOS 1.62 on my STe though, so maybe you could look into that? It works fine on my 2.06 setup and when booting into 1.0 from a ...

Oh, and dropping the number pad was a bad idea on the A600 anyway. Flight sims often used it, making them harder to play.
That's debatable. I've used an A600 for years without ever coming across any software that required its use but then I'm not really into flight simulators or Deluxe Paint.

Amiga 300

I daresay most people here have heard about David Pleasance's original intentions for what became the A600 (a low cost entry level Amiga to tap into the declining C64 market) and my questions are: 1) Was a C64C T2 pack cost level Amiga even doable and what features would it have had and which ones w...

Re: New Game RANDOMAZER for the ATARI STe

Just gave it a go on the real hardware and got through most of the trainer levels. Marble Madness meets Boulderdash. Seems to be a pretty good game. I think you should make it more clear that you're only offering a demo version here. A lot of people resent being led to a site for a game just to be t...

As for the cooling issues, it's worth bearing in mind that the Pi 4 has four cores running at over twice the speed of the original and it's pretty much flat out when emulating. So it's best not to rely on the basic heat sink.
Is it worth investing in a heatsink for a 3B+ running Amibian?

Re: Advice on what Pie to buy

That Flirc case looks really nice too. I think I'll go for that one then. That ICE tower looks like a mini version the Heatsink-fan I've got sitting inside my gaming PC that I built just over a year ago lol I'm also interested in some Amiga Emulation too. Is NOOBS what I need to run more than one O...

Re: Advice on what Pie to buy

I recently bought a Raspberry Pi (3B+) to turn it into an Amiga mini with Amibian (a distro that focuses solely on running UAE). The idea is to get a WHDLoad set-up for a third of the price it would cost me to upgrade my A600 for the job. It also has the added boon of fitting on my desk next to my d...

Re: Flatcsreen CRT vs Tube style crt for retro gaming?

It's something that really has to be addressed on a system by system basis. Some systems, like the N64, remain very CRT dependant without expensive modding for HDMI or RGB while others with native RGB or component support run just fine no questions asked. I've found composite to be a waste of time f...
