Re: From The Forum issue 163 - Tomb Raider memories
I remember running around Lara's mention quite a bit in Tomb Raider 2. Other than that, I feel the series has got stale.

Re: From THe Forum - Favourite Survival horror game
It has to be the original Resident Evil on PS1. Capcom nailed it first time with excellent gloomy atmosphere and music; The Spencer Mansion is truly unforgettable. Honorable mention goes to Eternal Darkness.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (I'm looking at you, Mega Drive II).

Re: Reader feedback wanted
I am possibly in a minority here, but I find myself skipping the homebrew pages. If something catches my eye I would read it, but I don't really take the time to look over every game as it really doesn't interest me that much. I really like the inclusion of Conversion Capers on game features. Genera...

For me, Goldeneye. Really the first console FPS that I enjoyed. Multiplayer was truely fantastic and still holds up today.

Re: From The Forum Issue 143 - F-Zero
My mate owned F-Zero, and I can remember the scenery outside of some tracks looking like a pixelated mess. It was only recently I found out that this mess was supposed to be a city. Still, really good game but a little too repetitive.

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 141 Your first gaming purchase
I am pretty sure it was Fantasy World Dizzy. I had the original Dizzy on a crash tape. Virgin Megastores used to stock codemasters ZX tapes, and that is where I picked up my first (non-pirated) single ZX game on cassette.

Re: The NES/MAster System Book
Picked this up in Easons today. Seems to have a lot of content from the past year's Retro Gamer monthly mag. I understand that this is the nature of these bookazines but being a subscriber only for the last 16 months or so, I was hoping for older content from past mags. Still a great bookazine thoug...

Re: Discuss Time! Issue 140 Retro Bargains
My most recent Mega Drive games bundle was a nice bargain for £5. Managed to get Quackshot, Eternal Champions, Castle of Illusion, Mortal Kombat 2 and Chiki Chiki boys. Noice.

Sonic The Hedgehog's transition into 3D games. Painful.

The music! And completing later levels thinking "there must have been an easier method than this!"

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 139
I too think the cover is great. One of my favourites actually!
Nice amount of content here that I'm looking forward to digging into. Sonic R has always interested me for some strange reason, and the Making of Resident Evil Remake looks great. Good job!

Re: Discuss Issue 134 Do you collect games (and why do you d
I collect, although not as much as I used to. With ebay and online trading sites, it can be quite addictive hunting down games and receiving them in the post. I found though that I was buying for the sake of buying, I wasn't playing these games I was purchasing. I like retro box art and that is some...

Re: Discuss 133: Remakes of classic games
Keeping the core gameplay and adding some spice can work. HD upgrades are nice, and a remixed soundtrack can be welcoming (see Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix). On the flipside, some remakes are not so great (see Flashback) due to trying to hard, or taking away the nostalgia factor with going overbo...

Re: From the forum issue 132 - Favourite first-person shoote
It will be unpopular here, but Battlefield 3. I was never really into FPS at all, but found Battlefield's levelling-up system to be addictive. Also, the game is accessible for us FPS amateurs, with room to become great. Don't hate the player....
